They just lost an asset. Their punter is damn good, and his last two kicks have been 20-30 yard dinks toward the sideline. What a weapon.

appalachian state?

huge win for that program. everyone knows them now.

It's not like it was Western Carolina or any other I-AA school that beat Michigan. This was the two-time I-AA champions that went to Ann Arbor and held on to beat the Wolverines.

Is the APP/MICH game a bigger upset than Chaminade 25 years ago?

That blocked field goal never should have happened. If you watch it, one of the Wolverines on the left side (where the App. State defender came from who blocked the kick) f***ed up his assignment. The coaches ALWAYS, ALWAYS teach you on the field goal unit to take your first step INSIDE (so your feet form a wide base) so you don't get beat there. You always make the defender(s) go around you to the outside, because they won't get to the holder in time. If they get inside of you, they'll be there quicker than you can say "crap". The player stepped to the OUTSIDE instead because that's where the guy on his head was. If he just stepped inside, that guy on his head would have had to go around him to the outside and the guy who blocked the kick never would have gotten through that open hole because he would have run into the guy who was blocking instead. That's just a stupid fundamental error on the Wolverines' part.

Now, obviously it's not a given that the kicker even makes the field goal, but the kick would have gotten off clean and had a chance if he just did what he was taught.

How about that DeSean Jackson (Cal's punt returner)? What a sick return.

i think its bigger than chaminade if only because its michigan football

if chaminade beat say a duke team then maybe

plus back then they didnt use a shot clock so the tempo can be controlled if you had a set of guards who could handle the ball.

lets face it

virginia hoop had 3 great years with ralphie boy sampson and disappeared from the elite

michigan is a top 5 team every single year in september

app state didnt get lucky, they slapped michigan in the mouth

160 yards rushing??

34 points in the big house??

2 blocked kicks in the last 3 minutes??

a 50 yard completion in the last 40 seconds to set up the game winner??

all very improbable and unthinkable occurances

this is a once in a lifetime happenin that we may never see again

I'm going to make a bold prediction -- Michigan wins the Big Ten. Write it down.

You have balls the size of church bells if you call the Big 11 for Michigan.

This weekend was a perfect example of how pre-season polls are useless. At least the BCS waits until the middle of the season to start ranking teams.

ohio state isnt getting any respect this season being at #11 and this was a non conference loss as pathetic as it was so outside the obvious ""dont pick them they suck"" its not such an outrageous prediction

im leaning toward wisconsin

they were playing some good football and may have been a title contender last year if given the shot

If I'm wrong, oh well, figured I would be. But if I'm right... I'm a genius. :D

I'm going to go ahead and mark my calendar for the Louisville/WVU matchup. Louisville scored 73 last week and has 38 in the first half tonight. I think WVU put up high-60's last week. Barn burner, and last year's game was excellent.

its like basketball only easier to score

they had at 1 pt last nite 13 straight scoring drives and it be more than that now

unreal

but when the likes of mid tenn state are hanging 40??

then you may need to step back

I thought maybe last week for Michigan was wake up call. But they are getting worked by Oregon, who just ran their second successful Statue of Liberty play of the 1st half. This is one piss poor defense.

39-7 Ducks.

Lloyd Carr might not last the season.

Everyone knew their defense would be bad, but they thought the offense could carry. Now their starting QB gets hurt. Makes alot of Wolverine look dumb when they were talking about how Ohio State was going to be a .500 team.

I was surprised he still had a job after halftime.

That whole 1-5 against Jim Tressel thing doesn't help him. The guy's gone... I'm not entirely sure whether or not teams in this situation would ordinarily wait until the end of the season or not I'd be shocked if he lasts a few more weeks.

If he loses next week to Notre Dame, he's as good as gone.

Notre Dame is god-awful. Michigan up 24-0.

Well, Notre Dame, you fired Ty Willingham after three seasons and his third year team was a great deal better than this Notre Dame team is...

Notre Dame has to go no better than 2-7 this year for Weis to equal Willingham's record in South Bend. At this point, it looks very likely.

Well no, but I expected to see improvement. Basketball can't come soon enough, since we're all really excited about the #2 recruiting class. Would it be too much to ask Jim Boeheim to coach 2 sports?
