Nice catch by Coco last inning, but Damon could have done better.

1B for Coveli!

Damon would have cured cancer, had sex with a virgin, and read War and Peace all in the time took to stride over to the ball.

Oh, "Stinkse" LOL HOW CR8TIVE doubles.

I love it when opposing announcers say things like:

"ya don't want to turn that lineup over and get to the other teams hottest hitter, Julio Lugo."

I laughed when I read this, but I think you've proven your point. Damon is also a speed reader!

Wow, Edes manages to say something positive about Manny:

July 22, 2007

A hitting clinic

By Gordon Edes, Globe Staff

Manny Ramirez produced the big bang--a three-run home run off Jon Garland to give the Sox a 3-0 lead in the first--but the three hitters preceding Manny gave a clinic in how to work a pitcher.

Julio Lugo fell behind 0-and-2 in the count, but fought back to work a walk. Alex Cora fouled off six pitches before grounding into a force play. Kevin Youkilis was down 0 and 2in the count, fouled off a couple, and worked a walk. By the time Manny settled into the box, Garland had thrown 25 pitches.

Manny pounded a 1-and-1 pitch into the Sox bullpen.

Damon injured is more valuable than Coco Puffs. Damon could have more homeruns in his first season with the Yankees than Crisp has in the four years for Boston [currently 24-13 Damon].

Crisp. Waste. Drew. Waste. Lugo. Waste.

vs.

Pavano. Utter waste of genetics. Proof positive that evolution can go in reverse. Should be beaten to death with wet Ramen Noodles or locked in a room with a monkey with a chainsaw.

Disadvantage Pavano. f*** him.

It's too soon to call Drew and Lugo a waste, they've actually hit well lately.

Crisp has improved this season and also hitting well, he's not a waste.

You can keep Damon

EDIT: Pavano blows, HUGE WASTE!

So... it appears to me that the Sox offense is back, and their pitching just keeps rolling along. Great starts (so far) from Wakefield and Gabbard. Lester is up tomorrow night...

Matsuzaka

Beckett

Schilling

Wakefield

Gabbard/Lester

I believe that is the official 'rotation' (not ranked from first to worst) as it stands now. I really think the Sox will use Buchholz this season, and I'm not convinced that it will be solely from the bullpen. He may be too good to keep in the pen, especially with the other support we may have out there.

Papelbon would make sense in this situation.

A nonsave situation? What are you thinking? That could ruin him.

I was thinking the same thing at the time. If you want leverage I would be willling to bet that situation had the most in the game after the sox went ahead.
