Drew hit a 3-run homerun but it bounced off that little area at the front of the top of the monster where the red tape is, and bounced back onto the field. The umps got together and said it never got up there. f*** them.

That's 2 f***ing runs. TWO. TWO RUNS we just got cheaped out of. Who knows, maybe that will somehow light a fire under this team's ass mixed in with Tito's ejection.

Here's what you do to fix that problem Remy.

 

A sandpaper like surface--perhaps a distinctive color--that could scuff the ball if it lands up there, and maybe leaving a little color behind as well. Something like Yellow or Purple.

 

the ball would have a scuff on it consistent with having hit that part of the park.

Agreed. It just pisses me off so much. I got even angrier because not even 24 hours ago McLellan (sp?) was going over that ground rule with Tito in GREAT detail. The length of that lip up on the monster and everything. They showed the tape shortly after the hit and while Tito was arguing. Goddamn it.

This might light a fire under the team. They had a closed door team meeting today and Drew finally shows power to the opposite field and we get robbed by the umps. It was good for Tito to go nuts on the umps. This could give the team an emotional lift.

 

BTW I am pretty sure that both manny and Drew went into HR trots. They saw it, but the umps didn't. f***ing *******s... four of them, and Tto explained that area to the crew chief yesterday. Do they have any knowledge of physics? Why would they think the ball popped up after it hit the wall?

They didn't have to see where the ball hit. The reaction of the ball after hitting the wall was enough evidence for them. The bounce was totally inconsistent with the ball hitting the wall. I have had many good umps tell me that when they can't see the ball they will make their call based on other things such as a players reaction. They didn't need to see where it was hit. They only needed to observe the bounce in this case.
