im in agreement with most of your post but if we practiced what you preached josh hamilton would be washing cars instead of playing baseball

his story is a rarity

most of the guys f***ed up at that young age end up usually end up like steve howe or doc gooden or darryl strawberry etc....

is there anything to the story that vicks crew were stealing their neighbors dogs and putting them in a ring with the pitbulls??

its so f***ing nasty and heartless i cant comprehend the savagery

You can take the man out of the neighborhood but you can't take the neighborhood out of the man!! Regardless of how much you pay these "athletes" you can't correct their behavior with money. Major colleges put more value on making the NCAA tourneys/championships because of the $$ generated than they do on ensuring they are turning out well adjusted human beings with an education. Vick is just one in a long line of pro athletes who are to stupid to realize they have been given the chance of a lifetime only to succumb to their own stupidity. f*** Vick and any other prima donna who believes their star status makes them immune to society's standards of acceptable and humane behavior.

I see your point, and what I should have said is that Hamilton hurt only himself. He didn't cheat [steroids], beat his wife [ORS would be here if he was a major leaguer :) ] or kill animals. He had a disease that sapped his life, future, etc. Doing cocaine doesn't make you a better player. Those are people, succeed or fail, that are trying to beat an addiction. You don't get addicted to steroids, or guns, or killing animals.

I'm sorry I didn't qualify that before. However, I think the majority of the public believes as I do, Hamilton got an ovation from the opposing teams fans when he came to bat his first time.

Can you ever see Vick getting cheered anywhere outside of his home stadium every again?

Send him to jail for five years. Ban him from football for life. There. Now he can be GANGSTA with an AIDS-infested cock in his ass.

Sorry for the visual.

They were also talking tonight on ESPN about how he may yet be indicted on more charges once the Feds completely finish things up. He's heading towards a very tumultuous time in his life right now, and I think he was pretty stupid to not try an early plea bargain to lessen a sentence he'll more than likely receive.

From ESPN...

The message from the government prosecutors to Vick and his three co-defendants (Purnell Peace, Quanis Phillips, and Tony Taylor) was not subtle. Here's the message: We've already charged you with serious crimes. You might want to consider a guilty plea. We are going to file more charges next month. That gives you a few weeks to think about the guilty plea. If you come and talk to us about pleading guilty and testifying for us, there will be no more charges against you. If you do not, the charges and the potential punishment will grow quickly.

you think they may give him some wiggle room here??

perhaps

its going to be a hi profile and very expensive case to prosecute.

hes got little options and the witnesses are aligning in mass to hang him

the feds may indeed be looking for him to plead out, give him a year to serve and have the knowledge that vick is out of the endorsement game and current athletes will no longer be interested in fighting dogs.

or

they may run the gammit

get the conviction and put his cute smarmy ass in atlanta's federal prison for 5 years with a guy named lamar who strangled his family of 8 with a garden hose because they put his dog to sleep.

trial set for late november

have they determined if he will see the field at all this year??

No mini camp is all that they've given him so far. I'm surprised Goodell hasn't yet come out and just suspended him for the year -- I guess they want the investigation to play out before they do that. They just denied Odell Thurman reinstatement into the League and all he did was violate the substance abuse policy -- I believe he was wanted on assault charges a month or so back but nothing's come of it, if I remember correctly -- so I'm surprised they haven't yet just suspended him for the year. If nothing else it'd help get PETA to leave the Falcons training camp and NFL HQ alone.

It does look like they're giving him some wiggle room, but even then, it's more or less just saying "You're f***ed... you can either be more f***ed, or you can admit that you're f***ed, change your plea and retain your currently level of f***ed-edness."... technically speaking, of course. :D

I can't imagine that in a high profile case like this, the Feds would indict him if they weren't certain that they have enough to nail him.

And Michael Vick's NFL career is essentially......

Michael Vick's co-defendant, who pled guilty to federal dog-fighting conspiracy charges, said Monday that he was financed almost entirely by Vick.

As part of a plea bargain, Tony Taylor said "Bad Newz Kennelz" was funded by Vick and admitted to executing dogs by way of drowning, hanging, and electrocution in 2002. He also said Vick was frequently at dog fights.

This has to be the single funniest article I've ever read. It sounds like something from the Onion, and I'm still doubting that it's actually real...

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,293268,00.html

Riches alleges that Vick stole two white mixed pit bull dogs from his home in Holiday, Fla., and used them for dogfighting operations in Richmond, Va. The complaint goes on to allege that Vick sold the dogs on eBay and “used the proceeds to purchase missiles from the Iran government.”

The complaint also alleges that Vick would need those missiles because he pledged allegiance to Al Qaeda in February of this year.

“Michael Vick has to stop physically hurting my feelings and dashing my hopes,” Riches writes in the complaint.

Riches wants $63 billion dollars “backed by gold and silver “ delivered to the front gates to the Williamsburg Federal Correctional facility in South Carolina. Riches is an inmate at the facility serving out a wire fraud conviction.
