Byrd butchered that ball. He looked worse than WMP. Speaking of WMP. I can't understand why they aren't taking this opportunity to get his bat into the lineup.

Manny, warning track power currently.

As for Loe, has anyone seen a bigger guy that looked like more of a pussy? Something in his face. It's just a weak, ineffectual look. You can't lose to guys like that.

Manny has been looking really bad against good fastballs and hasn't been Manny for awhile... I might be a little concerned.

Manny is the last guy I will worry about. Maybe in a two or three more years, I'll be a little concerned, but by then he'll probably be hanging out on a beach in the DR.

He's 35 years old. Usually players with his kind of skills, begin to slide when they are a little younger.

Given his talent level, it's not surprising he was able to fend off age related decline up until now.

In other news, Mariners manager Mike Hargrove has stepped down from his job

Mariners manager Mike Hargrove resigned Sunday and was replaced by bench coach John McLaren.

Bizarre. After all of this time on the hot seat, Hargrove finally had some job security after the Mariners' strong first half. The 57-year-old Hargrove said he was stepping aside because his "passion has begun to fade" and it would not be "fair to myself or the team" to continue. Hargrove will manage today's game and then be replaced by McLaren on Monday.

I don't doubt that at 35 he can't produce the numbers that he has put up for the past few years, but those numbers were somewhere in the stratosphere. Even a declining Manny is still the firs or second best hitter on the team. In a couple or three years, maybe not, but right now he and Ortiz are still our top two guys.
