And Arod has like 7 9th inning HRs this year. It just goes to show that "clutch" can be found at the North Pole with Santa Claus.

Hey, they got Cat out. Dance everybody, dance.

per stat i had seen on boston.com sports section (no link)' date=' he has 1 RBI in 31 ABs in close and late situations. Manny has 2 in 33 ABs[/quote']

Teams have been working around them and not letting them beat them, especially while Drew was in his brutal slump. If Drew heats up, pitchers will throw better hitters pitchers to Ortiz and Manny.

I don't think that's it. Trot and Tek got most of the ABs after them last year, and they didn't scare anyone. They are still getting cookies, but they are missing them more often.

Impressive stuff from Snyder. Bring on Otsuka and Fatboy Eric. Our lineup can score on anyone, and the lineup is about to flip.

I'm about to flip if they don't get started... :D

After that year, Yaz got pitched differently. Sometimes pitchers keep challenging hitters even when they should not. After a couple of years of getting bludgeoned by Ortiz and Manny, they are being pitched differently. manny is seeing a ton of sliders and Ortiz is rarely challenged with the fastball anymore. Just because they didn't have protection before doesn't mean pitchers pitched around them. As Ted Williams used to say, pitchers are the stupidest people.

You have GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. WHY is Lugo going when he's already in scoring position with a guy who can totally knock the f***ing run in? GOD.

Boiling point reached. This game should not be 5-4 with the Rangers in the lead in a Beckett vs. Tejeda matchup. f***ing disgraceful.

And on the replay: what the f*** is Lugo doing. He could have been f***ing safe if he slid. My patience is gone with Lugo. Gone.

What's one of the oldest baseball maxims? Never make the 3rd out at 3rd base. Lugo is a complete and total waste right now.

Boo birds are going to tear him a new ******* when he gets a plate appearance. Tito should just save him the embarrassment and bench him for all home games.

He also slowed up when he was getting closer to 1st base. This isnt home plate where you try to jar the ball loose from the catcher

At this point, given the way he's hitting and fielding, and now this, I can only come to one conclusion. He's on the take.

Why did he slow up and go in standing up? If had slid' date=' he'd probably have made it. He practically stopped.[/quote']

He peeked in at Laird and probably thought he wasn't going to throw it when he pump faked. Of course, being the idiot that he is...he peeked in on a straight steel. You NEVER peek on a straight steel. You just go for the bag and slide every time.

He shouldn't have even gone. With his speed, there's no reason to swipe third. Not only is the risk way too high with two outs, but Youk could have definitely gotten the base hit and Lugo could have motored his way home.
