Its really frusturating at this point.

DO the Sox lose Wake at the end of the year then? Not sure about contract. With Lester, Gabbard, Bucholz, and Tavarez do they need Wake? Especially with the Mirabelli situation? Josh Bard...:( Almost as much as Hanley...well, Beckett has been alright.

I wish the FO would pick up a starter' date=' before the trading deadline. The thought of throwing Wakefield and catching Mirabelli in a playoff game makes me nauseas.[/quote']

I'm 100% sure that Buchholz could get this team more than 50% wins. I too am sick of watching this silly Sox B Team out there every 5th day.

Wake has an option at the end of this year. The Sox can pick it up or let him go. At this point, Mirabelli is such a black hole that I just want them to let him go. I'm fairly certain that replacing Lester/Buchholz for Schilling/Wakefield in next year's rotation would be at least as consistent as what we've gotten this year from the latter (as in, I'm pretty sure we'll get better than 50% quality starts from them). They'll have their lumps, but I'd rather watch the potential studs have their bumps than watch two 40-year-olds get knocked around. Bring up Kottaras as back-up catcher. I'm fairly certain he could give us at least a .200 batting average.

I'd rather see two rookies than one rookie and Wakefield/Mirabelli.
Your not going to see two rookies in the rotation even if Wakefield is not renewed.

Then what will I see?

EDIT: If they make a move for Buehrle I won't complain. I guess this is also a possibility:

Beckett

Matsuzaka

Zambrano/Sabathia

Buehrle

Lester

Give Buchholz a year at AAA and let him be the emergency sixth starter?

You will see Lester come up at the end of this season to the point that he is no longer a rookie, and Buchholz in the rotation next year, if you ask me.

Atlanta's catching duo has MLB GM's licking their chops. If they put Salt-a-whateva on the market, I'd take a chance even if they want Jacoby. :dunno:

Lesters probaly going to get his feet wet this year, he wont stay in AAA all year. Though technically Lester isnt going to be a "rookie" since hes already logged 80 innings in the majors. Though the case being made that hes had a long road back so to speak could be made.

Theo like him and Drew for a long time?:dunno:

Theo likes a lot of questionable s***. I don't know what he saw in Lugo.

They really blew it with O-Cab and Renteria. They should have kept one of those two.

I would trade Ellsbury for Saltalamacchia. A possible 25-homer catcher is incredibly rare. The value we get out of him as a C is through the roof. Atlanta needs a CF too for next year. I'd do it.

That's also a possibility, but I am sure other FA pitchers will be around before next year.

That's what I figured. If Lester shows that he can hold down a spot, I wouldn't be surprised to see both of them in the rotation next year.

Buchholz is way too good to be kept in the minors another year. He'll get promoted to AAA soon enough and probaly spend the rest of the season there, but he'll be ready by spring training for sure IMO. Id rather not invest money and years in fringe pitching, so if we're going to shell out money for a FA starter it'd better be someone legit like a Buehrle/Zambrano/Sabathia so we dont have another Matt Clement on our hands.

Santana will be on the market after '08 also. I'm torn. I really want the FO to go HARD after Santana but do you think they will if they shell out a lot of money to Zambrano/Sabathia?

I guess they could trade for Buehrle and re-sign him for cheaper than what they would have to pay Zambrano or Sabathia...and then keep Lester and Buchholz in the rotation for '08. Then go after Santana hard? I don't know.

Let's get this deal done already. I wonder where A. Jones will wind up, I hope not Boston. Hunter maybe, but I have major concerns about AJ.

Who the f*** is Terrmal Sledge? It sounds like a disease.

"I'm sorry son, You have Terrmel Sledge. We'll make this as easy as possible for you."

WTF do I know? :dunno:

We have some options. Next season's holes to fill would be 1B/3B, SS?, and possibly up to 3 SP spots. That said we have Schilling's 13mil coming off, Clements 10 mil and Lowell's 9mil as the big ones so thats 30+ mil to play around with this offseason with a number of options within the organization. I think we can afford to offer big money to one of those SPs (something I am in favor of doing) and handing the two other rotation spots to Buchholz/Lester, maybe even upping Wake as a bullpen guy as long as Mirabelli is gone. Maybe resign Lowell, im undecided about that one, if we could get a 1B like Teixiera I'd be all over it. Come 08' with Santana, Manny's contract is up so depending on where you go there we could be looking at a massive amount of money being available, so I think we could possibly make a play for a big-time SP this offseason and still compete for Santana, we'll see.
