BTW' date=' Manny may be looking at a suspension even though he wasnt tossed. Throwing anything in the direction of an umpire is grounds for suspension. And it was pretty obvious he threw his gloves in the umps direction. We'll see how they interpret that.[/quote']

Oh, give it up. Was Manny challenging him to a duel?

f***ing double. f***ing Quintin. 2-1 is not going to be the final score of this game, but we gotta get out of this inning ASAP. Dice-K has pitched well, but he has still given up too many walks.

He appears willing to error more on the side of putting runners on and making HIS pitch rather than just making good overall pitches and letting guys beat him with their bat. You just can't give up this many baserunners and hope to have an ERA in the 3s. If he stopped walking dudes he'd be in great shape.

4 hits today.

Too bad the Sox offense has been lagging his last 3 starts (5 runs of support)

If he stayed away from the walks, he'd be up 1-0 and he'd be able to go another inning. Now, we need three innings from the pen. Schilling didn't get much offense in his last start, but he didn't hurt himself and cost himsself the game. It's one thing when your team gets shutdown by a Lenny DiNardo. The offense takes the blame there, but when you are squaring off against Randy johnson, you have to figure that you will not get many runs, so you can't put guys on with free passes. Aces win these type of games. They don't just pitch well and lose.

I guess the double switch, with JD hitting for Lugo would have been too complicated. Cora goes to SS, JD goes to RF, the pitcher takes the 7th spot in the order and won't come up until the 9th. Entirely too confusing.

.210 and .225 as your table-setters is not going to result in many high scoring games for the Red Sox. It is becoming quite clear that our lineup does not instill fear in pitchers. As the season goes on, we will see Manny and Ortiz be pitched around more often. Both Drew and Lugo need to pull their weight consistently. Drew is hot now, so of course he was benched today.

And, just as important given the situation, not used as the PH.

More importantly, Lugo and Crisp have a combined .278OBP and are HORRIBLE with the bases empty; Lugo is hitting under .200 with the bases empty. I want a logical explanation from Tito as to why he keeps putting Lugo and Crisp at the top of the lineup. That is, if there even is a logical explanation.

I will say, that was a nice inning from Donnelly. Byrnes dug out a pitchers pitch for the single and he put the side to rest after that.

I think that whole sequence in the 7th is going to cost them the game. I'm not saying Drew would have done anything to make a difference, but Francona got caught napping there, IMO. That was just bad managing. The chance to take the lead cannot be left in the hands of Lugo and Crisp right now.
