It's not often that one of us can say that we could have performed JUST as well as a professional athlete making, what, $10 million a year, in a particular situation. Well, that was one of the few situations where we can.

 

I even thought about Lugo bunting Pedroia over...but he went down 0-2 before anyone even would have had the chance to give him a sign should they have wanted to. Jeez.

With Manny swinging a hot bat behind him, Ortiz would have been zeroed in on a location in that situation...he's not going to swing at something outside of the area he was looking at, especially if walking means putting the go-ahead run into scoring position. So, even if a strike was thrown, if it wasn't HIS strike, he takes and Pedroia gets thrown out.
