I would say this is pretty much the reason that I won't cry if Wakefield isn't in the starting rotation in 08 and beyond. I love what he has done with the Red Sox, but this team is too good to lose on 31 walks and 12 passed balls while having a 5th day catcher who hits as well as the pitcher would. I hope Clay Buchholz doesn't get too comfortable in the minors.

At what point to the Red Sox say goodbye to Tim Wakefield and Doug Mirabelli

....great guys....but I'm not feeling it anymore from them

only a month ago, Wake was the toast of the town.

ugh, you still believe that everyone was thinking he was going to have a sub 3 ERA all year? We f***ing know he goes through these droughts

Is anyone else being forced to watch this game on Yes? And think it was absolutely hysterical when Michael Homer Kay suggested that there would be retaliation after Lowell got hit? Ridiculous.

I'm watching it on YES because it's in HD there...I'm always tempted to switch to the NESN feed, because the announcers actually have brains...but high definition baseball is just so pretty.

then you also know he goes through times of being unreal. You guys s*** on him a lot, but really dont see how much he means to your team.

By the uninformed. Most of us were talking about the certainty of his crash back to earth.

Umm hello where the f*** have I s*** on him? Ive said before I think he is a valuable asset to this team. An afford 5th starter who will give you a lot of innings and a 4.50ish ERA. Yankee fans love grouping every red sox fan into the same line of thinking

He is a .500 pitcher you retard....maybe the Yanks would love to get there hands on a guy like that but....I'd be more interested on getting guys that have a chance to win more games than lose

Wow. Dude. Um, you do know that the "average" major league 5th starter has a 6+ ERA and is well below .500 right? Who's the retard now?

We see how much he means to our team, but it was much more tolerable when Mirabelli hit more than .110 and we didn't have any other options. Again, this team is too good and too high priced to settle for a league average (albeit reliably so) pitcher who can't pitch to Varitek.

if you think your backup catcher needs to hit, guess again. Many teams have a horrible backup catcher. Hell, ours has 2 hits on the SEASON. I'd venture to guess that Mirabelli has been a better than average backup catcher (overall, he has had one hell of an awful start).

Yeah thats great....Tim Wakefield isn't our 5th starter...we actually have to count on him....thus far I'm not that excited about having him as a 4th starter....Schilling is off and on at his old age, Matsuzaka is not where he needs to be (not entirely his fault), Beckett is an ace, Tavarez is what he is....we need Wakefield to be competitive.....he is not competitive right now.

Everyone lets it go because of our current record but....sorry I'm just not satisfied I think this team could be better

<_>

Who are you?

Well, seeing how other than the last 2 weeks, Wakefield has been much more reliable then Schill, and DiceK. Honestly to say that Wake isn't a highly valuable is absurd.
