Crap..I'm waxing philosophic again. Look. Thurman Munson ain't walking through that door. Reggie Jackson ain't walking through that door. The pitcher Guidry isn't taking the mound. He's just some old throwback antiquity of times past not very good coach at the moment.

Ha! Far be it from me to invoke that kind of karma. No sir..yessir. These are good times and I'm happy. Read me w/ a bit of sarcasm and a dash of salt. I'm also w/ Sean, I mean Mr. Crunchy and I'm going to be reading Lupica tomorrow morning.

yanks appear rudderless

damon was their catalyst last year, abreu was a spark down the stretch

say what you want about sheffield but he carried a lot of the swagger thats now missing

theyre f***ed and its not 1978

no guidry no reggie no nettles no munson

they got an ancient staff thats tutoring the young guys who may or may not make it but they sure as s*** aint making it happen in 07

the sox are in great shape

Sheffield had almost no impact last year for the Yankees, although it would be nice to have his home runs in the lineup.

The only similarity between 1978 and this year is that Gossage also struggled in the first half of 1978.

I was being sarcastic, of course I know we won.

Cat kills the Sox and he made zero effort to try to get out of the way when he got hit today.

1st sweep in texas since 73

the 78 season is a different egg altogether

talie was graduating college at bob jones u

and i was in 8th grade right in love with kelly mohan when i saw dent break my insides outside petnovs tv

people forget we were down and out but rallied back to force the playoff game thart weekend

that was a great softball team, our 9 hitter hit 30hrs but we had zimmer and they had billy martin who managed to win at all costs and losing wasnt in his mind

ever

04 erased a lot of nightmares and cured a lot of anxieties,

vinitieri helped out before that season as well

all is well

Though you might tend to disagree, I think Cat would have looked pretty damn good in a Red Sox uniform this season. I still don't understand why we didn't even make an attempt to sign the guy. I mean I would rather see him patrolling the OF as our 4th OF than the clueless Wily Mo Pena.

Crunch, I'm going to tell you something that I have repeated endlessly on the Dirt Dogs Board. Simply put, in my opinion it will take another World Series Title to completely validate the Red Sox and their fans as MISSION COMPLETED. Why? Before we won it all in 2004, all we kept hearing from our Yankee friends was 1918, 1918. 1918, ad nauseum. Now we still hear some of the same crap, only it is "86 more years before another title".

That pisses me off more than the 1918 nonsense. When we can pull that title off it will shut everyone outside of RSN up once and for all.

Just got back from a crazy wknd, drinks of course were included ;)

My friends and family alike are just amazed at how well this team is doing. Still try to take 1 game at a time without thinking what could be in October. Safe to say so far Varitek's bat has rebounded from where it was last year. Ive been sensing before game 3 that Drew was starting to see the ball well. Game 2 in which he had 3 walks also had hit some hard liners at positional players. Now comes the process where he starts finding holes

Pedroia has started his cruise control on which he had in his years in the minor leagues, is the past is any indication... he can only go up from here. Good to see that the lesser liked relievers (Romero, Pineiro) stepped up big yesterday to make sure that lineup was held down

Onto series against Cleveland. This game is all about Trot, man his ovation will be loud as hell. I did have tickets to the game but instead gave them to my friend who just lost his father. He deserves it right now more than I do
