Sure it is. I consider it a break when the other team muffs a routine play and we get runs/bases.
Muffing a routine play resulting in runs is just stinky play. An umpire missing an obvious call, the ball hitting a rock, etc. that is a break. If it's within your control but you blow the play that is just bad play.

Why the hell not bring up Ellsbury? Murphy is all well and good, but what is his upside? What has been his upside in the MINORS? 14-20 HR, .280? When you have a guy who is one of the best athletes in your system, who is 23 years old and has a reputation as a top-notch defender, AND you need a CF, I say go for it.

I'm going to buy a Canadian flag and s*** on it. We need something to reverse the trend with them' date=' and I've always been nice to Canada. No more.[/quote']

I know a lot of you guys like hockey, but i'd be more then willing to trade Canada all of our hockey teams for The Blue Jays.

Call it what you like, but no rationalization is going to change my mind. A guy like WMP is going to commit X number of errors in a season because that is the player he is. When they happen is completely random, ....................ahhh f***it.................CRAWFORD ORDERS SALAMI OFF MYERS!!!!!!!!

Im not saying I dont want to see Ellsbury up in the majors, so dont go to the extreme that I dont. I know all well about Murphy's upside and Ellsbury's upside, dont need to give me a lesson on that

I was just thinking about the Sox's way of thinking, steadily bringing up their players (even ones of the star type caliber). So say Coco just lasts on the DL for 15 days, whats done with Ellsbury? Back down to Double A until they finally give him the call to Triple A?

Actually, it was a good pitch, but Crawford stayed on it and drove it. Had he opened up he would have grounded out feebly. It was good/good, with good results.

If D-Rays pull out with a W, its good to see the Sox not lose any ground. But it will still be 2 games in a row they cant gain in the standings with the Yankees having their early season troubles. Something we all know too well

Of course I know we cant beat halladay twice in a row, just saying its sad to see chances slip away to gain ground in the division

EDIT: Timlin, any chance he wont allow a baserunner this inning? Lets find out!

Leadoff single, heres a cookie

Personally, if ellsbury can produce better than Coco then he should be playing. Period. This team is very close to being able to really, really compete for a WS. They have the pitching staff, they have the lineup and they should have the defense.

There are some pretty good CFs out there who I would keep Ellsbury behind if necessary. Crisp isn't one of them. I like Coco a lot, but I've said it over and over again, I think he's a great 4th OF. I don't care what they bought him for, or what he hopes to do, if Jacoby is better he should be playing.

I know the sox specialize in not rushing players up. They also specialize in not winning WS titles and not being very exciting from the leadoff spot.

Just imagine possibly having a player who can hit .290 with .360 OBP, 50 SB, 100 R and gold glove caliber glove in CF leading off for this team, or hitting 9th. I just think this kid will make a lot of things happen; he has on every single team he's played on since high school. Again, I don't think 23 is too young to bring a player up.

EDIT: just for fun:

Ellsbury

Lugo

Ortiz

Manny

Drew

Youkilis

Varitek

Lowell

Pedroia

looks like an explosive lineup to me.

I can't help but wonder what would have happened if the Sox had played Hanley Ramirez a little earlier than they did. Was hanley ABSOLUTELY essential to getting Beckett? Could there have been some other option (say, Lester) who would have netted this team Beckett anyway? It's not like FLA knew which hanley ramirez they were getting; he's been as advertized and more.

Why did the Sox even swing their bats in the 9th?

Example I well understand, believe me that I do share the same sentiment on Ellsbury. No need to sell me on him. Im just thinking that before he comes up to the bigs, a move has to be made. Unless they want to dump one of the pitchers and go with a 5 man outfield

That's what I was thinking should happen. Drop Snyder.

Its time to put this series behind us. Bring on the O's who the Sox just simply crushed last year going 17-2 I believe

Curt Schilling vs Daniel Cabrera

Josh Beckett vs Adam Loewen

Love thee matchups for the first 2 games

In 2004 just to refresh your memory we beat on the Blue Jays like a drum. It doesn't help to beat them when your pitcher yesterday pitches like s*** and you throw a stumblebum like Taverez against their ace today. Sooner or later such a matchup will end in a debacle no matter what happened last time out. And we are still waiting on Manny Ramirez (197) to start hitting like Manny Ramirez, and as long as he have Wily Mo Pena playing in our lineup we can be assured to at least two or three strikeouts and a bunch of runners left on base.

We have to kiss this two game series off and chalk the damn thing to experience and try and have better pitchers going against them the next time we play them. We have our three best the next three games and should get a couple if not three wins from them if our hitters will remember how to hit. I never thought I would miss Crisp so much but if he is going to be out for a considerable time let's bring up Ellsbury and get Pena the hell out of there.

Just very sad

Watching the NESN post game report. Tito must be paying them off or something, never once discussed about how bad Tavarez's start was. The main focus was the defense, ok that bad defensive inning came after when the score was already 6-3 (thanks to Tavarez lasting just 4.2 innings while giving up 6 runs). They didnt lose because of bad defense it was just throwing gasoline on the fire. He is now 0-2 with an 8.36 ERA in 3 starts.

Tom Caron only could say:

Julian Tavarez will be in search of his first win when he pitches in Yankee stadium on Sunday

15-3, but it's still pure domination.

It's a new year Rod and we can't be certain we are going to be able to beat them to a pulp again this season. Fortunately we have Schilling and Beckett pitching for us so that ought to give us a better chance than we had the last two games.

BTW, there is a relateively new Dodger Board called ClubDodgers.com. Since you are a fan of that team you might try and check it out. Some very nice people on that board just like here.
