Now 3/5 of the NYY starting rotaion is sitting on the DL, Wang will be back before the other two, With all these injuries I guess we will see how deep the pitching staff is. BP is going to get burned up ealry this season, and Jacko I hate to keep score, but here are a couple more guys you said wouldn't see the DL and they landed on it... But NY got a good enough offense to keep games within reach.

I actually said that Mussina and Pavano would see the DL at some point this yr. It is nearly a foregone conclusion. I just didnt think they would be on the DL when Wang and Karstens were on the DL as well.

And to this point the depth has been challenged, no doubt. But we are still holding back. Chase Wright is our hottest minor league pitcher in terms of performance. In terms of his ranking, he is pretty low mostly due to his lack of power stuff. But he is already on the 40 man roster, so we didnt have to waive anyone for this one start. If Cashman was simply going for this win and was going to use the best he has, Hughes is pitching in the rotation already with Clippard not far behind. But both would have to be added to the 40 man one to two yrs before they absolutely need to be.

And bsn, over our last 5 games in which our starts did not go down with an injury (Moose game in Minny excluded), our rotation has thrown 30.2IP, for an average of slightly over 6IP per start. It just seems like our pen has worked so much because we had 7 innings of extra frames.

Once we get our full complement of starting pitchers back, our rotation will be less of a mess. As I have said before, you cannot quantify what CMW means to us in terms of his durability. On any given night, his pitch counts are usually so low that he can be stretched to 7-8 innings if need be. He is the only pitcher in our rotation who has that versatility.

now what

the golden boy savior had a suck spring and they wont f*** with his development so they bring up someone who they couldnt get a bag of baseballs for

one big lead blown by the pen. The other was blown in part by Igawa.

As for our pitching, Wright is not a has been or a never was. He is a 24 yr old prospect. Small and Chacon are has beens and never were's.

As for Hughes, he had 2 lackluster performances in the spring, dominated in AAA spring after the demotion, was dominant in his first start and sucked in his second. If you look at Hughes track record, he has struggled for about 5 starts every time he was promoted. Then he kicks it in.

Now as for when he gets the callup, if any of these injuries that are befalling us were season long, Hughes would be getting the call. But as it is, we are weathering the storm rather nicely and we may only need this kid for one start. As I have said before, we suck in april. It is in our blood, so if we get these injuries out of the way now, we will be alright come May 1. To this point, we should have our entire projected rotation by the last series with you guys and from then on, it will be on.

I am not worried to this point. Wang back in 10 days, Mussina back in 10 days (his 15 day DL stint was retroactive), Pavano back in 14 days. Karstens back in 5 days. Nothing long term. And with 2 off days in 5 scheduled days and a deluge of epic proportions hitting the northeast, I would assume we get another off soon enough. Dont count us out yet.

even when they come back there are questions

seriously

pavano and mussina are sisters

igawa so far blows, wang has been awesone but 2 of 3yrs hes on the dl

usually guys who get dl'd in april struggle

see schilling clement pavano and kevin brown for examples...

proctor and farnsworth??

come on

didnt they blow a 3 run lead friday and a 2 run lead with 2 out 2strikes yesterday??

you really need to be optimistic because from where im sitting theyre f***ed

for your benefit its still april

Actually Mo blew the game yesterday. He tubed an 0-2 pitch to power hitting Marco Scutaro (.095 BA) who buried it for a 3 run homer. Very uncharasteric of Mo. The starting pitching is in shambles, good thing it's only April.

bb

i had over 8.5 in the yanks game yesterday, pretty heavy i may add

i wait for this team to sink every spring and this year is no exception

this may be too much too soon

maybe mrs farnsworth can start

I think that those of (us) you who are trying to ride Jacksonian about Philip Hughes could end up looking foolish. He may not be quite ready yet, but he's VERY young and has had a tremendous track record thus far. I'm pretty sure we'll be getting to know this kid of a long, long time.

I just like giving Jacko a hard time! Now if it was us that had all these pitchers on the DL Jacko would be telling us to hang it up we are finished no matter if it is April or not.

Wrong on both counts. Igawa left with a 4-3 lead and Farns blew it by allowing 1 run.

And yesterday, Mo had his typical april gaffe.

I have actually been advocating moving Farns to middle relief until he gets his stuff back. When he is on, he is completely untouchable. But when he is off, he is unwatchable. Right now he fits into the second category and I dont want to see leads in the 7th and 8th wasted so he can get his kinks out. We have a plethora of strong relievers who can take his place. Proctor looked very strong yesterday. Vizcaino and Bruney have been horses out there and Henn is pitching very well out of relief. Our pen will need to hold together a little longer.

As for Wang on the DL, his previous problems were shoulder and elbow. A hammy happens and it seems to be happening in increasing frequency on this team. I dont worry about those kinds of injuries.

The only 2 injuries I am worried about are Karstens and Pavano. Karstens had elbow stiffness, but he checked out okay and will return soon. But that bears serious watching. And anytime a pitcher leaves with forearm tightness, I immediately think tendon or ligament. Sometimes forearm pain is a sign of UCL damage and hence TJ surgery. Other times it is a strained muscle in the forearm and boy are there a lot of them. And with Pussano's history, I would not be surprised if he is out for an extended period of time. As for Mussina and Wang, they'll be back very soon and will be fine.

Posted
Don't you get TJ from years of wear and tear on the elbow? Since when has Pavano had any kind of extended wear and tear? LOL

Must be something liket hat because he hasn't pitched enough for it to be baseball related LOL

wrong on both accounts??

i watched both games mj

i saw the yanks blow a 3 run lead friday,i watched the game with thine own eyes

igawa was left out there in the 6th and was toasted

then mrs farnsworth gave up the long ball and some guy named burney got the L

seems doug meintxxx set a record for men LOB friday evening??

as for the 2nd account

the yanks up 4-2 2 outs nobody on,they lost 5-4

did i miss something or did their pen blow a 2 run lead?

they got issues

their bats will keep them in 100 games but they need to plug a lot of leaks starting with starting pitching and defense

its 4/17 and pavano is the only yankee starter with a W??

compound their sucky pitching with the worst defense in the american league and i think it will be a long summer in ny...when did jetsey turn into chuck knoblauch?

how long will they play meintxx hitting .138?

at least arod is on pace for the mvp or their would be some real problems on his team

i figure if they can stay at .500 thru the mussina and wang dl moves they'll be competetive but having to rely upon the likes of rasner and a guy with 2AA starts at age 24 isnt a good sign

Posted
And the BP is the most used in the league right now, they might come back to bite them in August and Septemeber...
Posted

yeah it just might

its 4/17,mo has 0 saves and their starters have 1W

this is with posada damon jeter and arod smashing the piss out of the ball

too many issues too soon in the year

Posted
There O will keep them in alot of games... But they will need SP to be in any post season discussion...

I agree. All they need to do is stay within striking distance until their rotation comes back together.

I just read something funny on foxsports. They called Carl Pavano The American Idle.

haha, that's for sure... Pavano's getting 10 million a year and has pitched 111.1 innings over 3 years (with the Yankees)... talk about easy livin' huh...

April is generally the only time in the season when Red Sox fans can celebrate' date=' so I won't bother trying to argue with you.[/quote']

Your team isn't a good team in October anymore. Most of your clutch players are gone, and the ones that are still there are getting past their primes. See Jeter and Mariano.
