My bad on Clippard' date=' he only threw 5 innings. Joe Torre is a moron.[/quote']

Clippard's pitch count was getting up there. He was allowing multiple base runners in almost every inning. I think Torre figured that it was only a matter on time before the White Sox finally get the big hit if he left Clippard in there. At 5-1 Torre didn't want a pitcher in there who might let the other team back in the game by simply not throwing strikes.

He was at 89 pitches. With a 4 run lead, I would at least run him out there for the 6th on a short leash.

The last thing that Torre wanted in that spot was for Clippard to walk a couple of guys and then have to bring in Proctor with runners on base. With Wang going today, Torre saw a chance to really use his bullpen because he is assuming Wang will eat innings today. If Clippard goes out in the sixth and lets a couple of guys get on base, and then Proctor lets the inherited runners score you guys would be mad at Torre anyway.

depends on the situation Mr. Torre supporter. There have been times when he has run the starter out there when he CLEARLY had nothing left in the inning prior. But last night, Clippard was dominating pretty much and aside from a perfectly placed 0-2 pitch that was flipped into CF and a walk worked had for by Thome, he had an inning where he was in control prior to being taken out. The ChiSox really worked Clippard as hard as they could, but TClip wasnt having it. I like his composure. I really like his stuff. And I think Torre needs to start trusting some guys a little bit more and others (Gascaino and the Farns) a little less.

Not the Yankee game, but Wright just got mega-dusted (the ball caught the bill of his batting helmet) in Shea by Eaton after Beltran went yard and Delgado hit a GR2B. Be interesting to see if we get some fireworks between these two teams tonight.

nothing like watching us get a leadoff double then having Javier f***ing Vazquez K the next 3.

Fixed.

Good to see Eaton pitching inside. Dont like headhunting after a homer, though. Maybe a shot in the ribs is warranted, but head level, probably not. Headhunting needs to be saved for special occasions.

For starters, I'm not a Torre supporter. If you go back and read through a lot of my posts, especially in this thread, you'll realize that they're plenty of instances where I disagree with him. To be perfectly honest, I would much rather have Girardi managing this team.

With that being said, I'm not going to jump on every decision he makes simply because I dislike him. To say he was dominating is a drastic overstatement, and I think anyone that watched the game would have to agree with that. He gave up a lot of base runners, and seemed to be on the brink of giving up the big inning. I think Torre saw an oppurtunity to hand a lead over to Proctor (who he trusts more than Clippard and for good reason), instead of playing a game of roulette with Clippard where it seems like the White Sox were always threatening. They won the game, and Proctor pitched two scoreless innings. Whether you like Torre or not, he moves last night worked out (for the most part). He is assuming that Wang is going go deep in the game today, and he saw an oppurtunity to get a win with their number five starter on the mound (with Clemens coming back).

I could only imagine what the response would be from some of the Yankee fans here if Torre left Clippard in, and he proceeded to lose the lead.

As for tonight, Cairo is really playing a stellar first base so far, and I would expect to see him play a great deal of first base if he shows competency at the plate.

92 is not gas. Yankee bats may be a little tired after getting 18 hits last night.

It was ment to be a sarcastic remark to you vasquez striking out the side remark.:D

All sarcasm aside, Javy Vazquez has never been short on stuff.

Strange, is it not? Vazquez has great stuff, ace type stuff. However his only really good years were in 2001 and 2003 in Montreal. He strikes out a tons of batters, he doesn't walk a lot, yet he hasn't really strung together any significant success.

Wang is looking good too' date=' might we have a pitchers duel?[/quote']

This is exactly the type of lineup he will chew up. They have two, maybe three, hitters that will work him for a good pitch to hit. The rest are hackers. They've got pop, but they'll swing at first offerings that will be harder to lift.

agreed. And all that pop does you no good when you cannot lift the ball. Wang's biggest problems arent typically the more patient teams (although the sox seem to like him). It is the speedier teams IMO. He is god awful to the plate and all those dribbler become singles when the rabbits are running.
