Santana is done negotiating a long term deal with the twins and at this point is going to wait on talking contract until he is a FA. Do the right thing Cashman, give him a blank check in 2 yrs.

I love how you imply that this is even a question...of course the Yanks will give him whatever anyone else will and more...it's just a matter of whether or not he wants to play there, not the funds.

Johan Santana in pinstripes...pitching the first game in the new Yankee Stadium...?

From now until November/ December 2008 every Yankees fan needs to start building up as much good karma as possible.

Ironically, the quickest way to build karma is to not be a Yankees fan. :D

That's what everybody said about the Yankees and Beltran, and we all know what happened there. So there is a good chance that they will not just give him whatever he wants.

I'm shocked it took that many posts for that kind of joke.

Now reports coming from Santanna said there was no extension offered and the Twins are breaking there rule of no in season extensions for Santanna...http://minnesota.twins.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070411&content_id=1893303&vkey=news_min&fext=.jsp&c_id=min

I would give any amount of money to this guy. Good pitching is worth anything and its hard to come by. If it means not picking up Mannys option so be it' date=' hes worth it.[/quote']

There is no way the sox would consider picking up Manny's option anyways. I would love to see Johan pitching at Fenway.

Exactly my thoughts, why would a front office who's tried to unload his contract for awhile (even putting him on waivers) pick up his 2 option years worth $20 million apiece?

Not saying that they will, but maybe because he hits north of .300, 35, 120 EVERY YEAR and provides the best protection for Papi?

Ok think about the logic... Theo has been trying to unload him since 2003, he has his chance after the 2008 season to decline 2 years worth $40 million, so he would still just pick them up anyway and continue shopping him around? The guy put him on waivers, cant see him skipping to give him $40 million

EDIT: I dont see why you had to remind me the obvious about Manny's offense with Boston, always have to keep in mind the history with Manny & the front office. Call me shocked if they pick up his option years
