Where's JSinger? Did he leave with mark Loretta?

I have actually been wondering the same thing. He kind of left after the Pats lost to the Colts if I'm not mistaken.

Yeszir must have designated him for assignment.

I was about to post something to that magnitude. I think it's always been clear that Manny overall is a better hitter' date=' it's just that Papi does it in the clutch so the attention is taken off of Manny from fans and the media. Which is how Manny likes it, I would presume.[/quote']

yes. manny is HOF material, papi isnt... yet.

First victory boys!

The bats came alive, and the pitching stepped it up from where it was tuesday afternoon. The relief pitching went 4 scoreless innings, allowing just 1 hit and striking out 3. The downside I can think of for this game is Mike Lowell's 3 errors and Beckett had a rough night with his command. He still battled and gave up a run on 2 hits in 5 innings. The command just needs to be there

All in all Riverside, a pretty good night. I tried to hold my tongue until I thought this thing out but I have to say that all things considered this was a pretty good win for us. The relief pitching was strong, we got some good clutch hits and won. After Monday's game I was starting to dread just a little my trip to Boston on Monday for the Seattle series and one Angel game figuring we'd be in the tank so early. Well, we still have four games to play before our home opener but I'm hoping we're 4-2 by next Tuesday and on a little roll. Of course, Crisp looked like crap warmed over until he earned a walk and it would be nice to see him break out tomorrow. Hell, if Tek can get a big hit so should CocoPops.

The forecast on line did not look that bad.

This guy Drew is very, very smooth. I know I have said it before, but he makes it look effortless in the field.

There are some yo yo's on this board who have been unduly influenced by our friends from Dodger Blues, especially their assinine comments about J.D. Drew. Well I saw him plenty of times last year and I can tell you the guy is a very solid ballplayer, a five tooler who plays effortlessly in right and brings you a good game on both ends of the field. If he can stay healthy, and he should because of his off-season workout regimen, we have a very solid player batting fifth and playing RF. He is certainly not one of our problems, but his compadre to the right of him could be unless he gets off the dime and starts contributing. As for Varitek that hit he got tonight is hopefully a shot in the arm for him and the whole team.:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Well, mission accomplished for the offense. They worked Odalis like a dog, even though he gave them nothing after the first. They got into the pen and a f***ing rule 5 guy who never pitched above A ball comes into a clutch situation. You can thank me later, but the royals pen is absolute garbage and the idea that the sox even try to beat the starter is assinine.

My thoughts.

Beckett threw absolute ched but had no goddamn idea where it was going. But the major difference between him and Schilling is the fact that a 97 mph fastball down the heart of the plate gets missed many more times than the 89 mph meatballs Schill was serving up. Beckett broke off some nice curves but also had a bunch that he couldnt even come close to locating and his insistence on trying to K every hitter got him yanked after 5. Against a better hitting team, he is lit up last night, but it is a step in the right direction. He figured out that rather than walking hitters, it is better to just throw strikes when down in the count and see where it takes you. There were what, 3 3-0 counts that he battled back from yesterday and got outs? His performance gets a B- in my opinion and it is something to build on.

The bullpen was dirty. But they got some help. Pineiro was topping out at 92 and his curve had no right to left break. It was all 12-6 and you can tell it isnt fashioned that way. Romero looked very solid as well. Snyder had some serious movement on the ball, but his pitches ended up down the middle. Prediction: Snyder is in AAA or claimed off waivers by the end of May.

I will agree that Beckett didn't have his best control, but the umpire had a tremdously tight strike zone last night. I probably counted about 10 pitches for Beckett that could have gone either way, and he got none of them. He featured a good changeup last night, and he snapped off about 4-5 good curveballs. Remy was commenting about how hard it is to throw breaking balls in the cold, so I think he will be fine. I would give him a B for last nights performance.

1. What are we going to thank you for again?

2. The things I'm most encouraged about last night were (a) Beckett didn't abandon his secondary pitches, (B) some of the changeups he threw were just dirty, and © when he missed he missed down in the zone. He didn't rely on his fastball too much. The worst breaking ball he threw all night, coincidentally, was the one he K'd DeJesus on.

3. I disagree with your assessment of Piniero. I thought he looked really good, and his pitches had a lot of break on them. Yes, it's the Royals, but it's an encouraging sign. The 'pen has to start somewhere, and last night was an excellent game to build off of.
