Has anyone looked at the schedule for both our teams? This is completely and totally ridiculous. i understand the royals wanting to insure themselves if there was a rainout, but c'mon now. The red sox play 1 game, get a day off, play 5 days in a row, get a day off, THEN PLAY 20 DAYS IN A ROW including 6 against NY. That is just ridiculous for the sox to play so many games so early.

As for NY, we play 8 games in a row, have a day off, go to oakland for 3, have a day off, then play 13 days in a row and get a day off.

I would assume the schedulemakers could be a bit nicer to the sox than to have a 20 day stretch of baseball in april and btw, the sox can end it by facing the yankees 6 times in the last 20 and finish it with 3 in NY. What were they thinking?

Screw it. As a fan, let them play every day. Every team, every day. For an average salary in the millions, play every day. It's fair if every team played every day. In fact, forget the offseason. Take the week off, start baseball in November. Year round baseball baby!

Now that's what Im talking about, maybe have the 40-man roster for after the All-star break so the starters get a break...

EDIT: Im talking like its gonna happen hahaha...

From a purely selfish standpoint I think this off day today is pure garbage. All it does is give us an extra 24 hours to stew, worry, stay upset, get pissed off at someone, and wonder what the hell that first game meant. It would have been great to have gotten right back in the wars today and see if Josh Beckett could continue his mastery over the Royals and maybe see some of our hitters belt a few around the park. As it is we all have to cool our heels and wait. Does it seem to any of you that the time is just dragging?

Yes. I also believe you are on the rag. LOL!

Come on, buddy, it's just one day, and one game. You're just jonesing for baseball, considering you had to wait through a long off-season like us.

OK GOM, now you're being helpful. That's was my point, though. This waiting is for the birds. At least you're waiting over a win; the rest of us have to think about what happened yesterday and it wasn't pleasant. Look, I even climbed all over you and challenged you to bet me. I would bet my attitude wouldn't have been so combative if we had won the game yesterday. One consolation, though. I can always put on one of my Red Sox DVD's about the 2004 season to kind of settle me down. It is escapism, no doubt about that, but I have a friend who is a big Chicago Cubs fan and he keeps harping on the fact that though our teams share a very similar history at least mine was finally able to go all the way while his is still wallowing in the weeds. In fact, they had gone even ten years longer than the Red Sox had when we finally won it all in 2004.

BTW, discount my last nasty post to you unless you have already resonded. I will make a FRIENDLY wager that we finish higher than third.

I'll take your wager seabeachfred. 86 wins and third place.

Yes, it is a long day to wait after your team loses on opening day. It is the one game you hate to lose more than any other in April.

and it is the one day that we all love to watch the other team lose. Can we say 2.0 games? I think we can!!!

Just kidding, I am pretty sure you guys finish april in first. It just isnt our style to burst out on top.

GOM, let's say ten dollars. Is that fair? As for you Jackson, I'm not so sure we are going to burst out in front the first two or three months this year. With all the new faces and settling in it may be our turn to get our big push going in the summer this time around. Either that or GOM wins the bet.

if you dont jump out in front, then the ALE will be ours easily. Figure this. The yankees teams of at least the past 3 seasons have started out slowly. Many would think it was the pitching, but the offense was actually to blame for that. I wched every single one of those games and I can tell you that the culprit for the yankees poor starts is a very inconsistent offense early on. We'd score 16 in one game then 2 for the next 2, then 10 for 3 games in a row, then get shutout. That is what you get with veteran teams. Most guys take a few weeks to get their s*** together, but it seems that the yankees kick in all their cylinders come mid may and just steamroll the shitbums of the league for the last 4 months of the yr. This yr we start with our ace on the DL for at least his first 4 turns in the rotation and the guy who was to replace him is on the DL too. If you arent 3-4 games up in the beginning of May when Wang will be in the swing of things, Karstens is starting in place of Pavano and Hughes is knocking on the door while our lineup returns to being consistent, you wont even come close.

Personally I don't mind seeing them play a big stretch of games early on. There as rested as there ever going to be at this point in time, so they might as well play often, it probably means they will have more days off later in the season when you really want them.

I'd rather have the long stretches now than in August.

I' pretty pissed off with this goddamn scheduling. f*** this. Nice f***ing tease, have a solid, fun game 1 then 2 f***ing days off. I didnt know this was the goddamn NBA. With the way it rains in the northeast, we shouldnt have any more than 3 days off in April, preferably 2 and in no way should you have opening day then a day off. You are just asking for it.
