The Phillies are were unable to reach a multi-year deal, but they did agree on a one year deal for now, but it seems like they're are still negotiating to try and keep Howard for years to come...

Now, I was just thinking, what if Howard and the Phils can't get a deal done. I think the Red Sox would be a high bidder for Howard. Lowell's last year, you could move Youk to third and have Howard at first... can you imagine Ortiz, Manny and Howard in the same lineup... I bet the Yankees won't sit back on this one though... if a deal doesn't get done that is...

Hes not even arbitration eligable yet, thats why the phillies didnt have to pay him s***. I'm with you TGOV, I'd love to have him but he wont hit FA for a few years.

It depends on how many games/innings he played I think.

If Howard has another 2006-type season, he'll probably end up as one of the highest-paid guys in the game (in the $20M range). Then they'll trade him for scrap minor leaguers à la Abreu.
