I know there is alot of discussion about this in other threads but I wanted to see what everyone thinks. We all know there are two options: Coco Crisp and Youk. Crisp has the speed but a low OBP, and Youk gets on a ton. Although he has no speed, I think we just need guys to get on in front of David and Manny. I think Youk should bat 2nd and Crisp should bat ninth where he can get on and run with Lugo and Youk at the plate. Having speed at 9th makes more sense then having speed hitting 2nd in this Lineup.

I'd go with Youk. I completely agree with you, speed is not important in the 2 spot. With Ortiz and Ramirez, green lights will come rarely. Youk gets on base a lot more than Crisp...in my opinion it's a no brainer.

At first they will go with Youk because of his OBP, but if Coco goes back to his old self and hit how he did when he was on Cleveland, then they may use Coco in the #2 but on the other hand, with Coco in the #8 spot, it puts speed throughout the whole lineup and it also will allow Coco to steal more...

The best situation is youk 2nd crisp 8th. I just want the spring training to start' date=' this time of year sucks.[/quote']

Yes it does...

youk finished at .271

crisp had a horrid year and finished at .264?

youks decline in the 2nd half of last season was miserable

cocos entire season was miserable but it wasnt that much below youks #s

this is far from being in stone

ideally jdrew and his .400 obp and his 15 hrs hits 2nd

and somebody steps up and wins the 5th spot in the order

I'm actually hoping that Crisp steps up and can hit leadoff. Lugo some pop in his bat and I think he could greatly benefit us hitting with guys on base sometimes. He's got extra base gap power and speed...If Coco can hit between .290-.310, I like him in the leadoff spot which would lead, in my opinion, the rest of the lineup to look like this:

1.) Crisp

2.) Youk

3.) Ortiz

4.) Manny

5.) Drew

6.) Lugo

7.) Tek

8.) Lowell

9.) Pedroia

I anticipate, and hope, that Tito messes around with the lineup quite a bit during Spring Training and the first few weeks of the season. We have a lot of versatile guys on this team who can hit a lot of different places in the order...we'll never know what suits us best until we give them a shot.

The other reason I like the lineup that I have is for late-inning situations...you'd better have a lot of specialists out of the bullpen if you're going to face a lineup that, 2-8, goes: R, L, R, L, R, S, R.

i hope your lineup sees 140 games this season

i for 1 anticipate a good season for coco

.300 is certainly possible with say 25-30sb and a surer glove in center

im wondering how duddy pedroia and lugo are going to be in the middle

we'll miss agon and loretta

they looked like trammel and whitaker out there as if they played together forever

Are you saying 140 games because of injury? I can definitely understand that concern.

Loretta was one of my favorites last year...I always felt good about him in big situations with him at the plate and very comfortable with him in big situations in the field. I'm not expecting Lugo/Pedroia to be as smooth as Gonzo/Loretta...but I sure do hope it's close. Pedroia better show me something...because I didn't see a God-blessed thing last year.

God I can't wait for this freaking season to start. I'll just love getting home from school, popping some popcorn, kicking back in my favorite office chair, and watching mlb.tv... <_>

140 games is a lot of games for 1 lineup to see

theyll be resting guys on road trips, especially our catcher who had a terrible seaoson last year

we need to get a young catcher some time

mirabelli was awful last season,

i can live with the .195 IF he can handle wakefield but wake was out and we gave up bard and meredith to get doug back

another f*** up

we were debating the other day about tek

a guy was saying that he thought that tek shouldve stepped up and caught wakefield as opposed to leaving it in the hands of josh bard.

he made sense

tek is the captain, bard was a solid prospect who obviously didnt get the reps in march that were needed to catch wake

flash retired leaving tek and bard as the only backstops in camp

his thinking is tek shouldve stood up and caught wakefield and let bard develop

hindsite being 20/20 i agree with him now

All good points...I guess they looked at catching a knuckleballer like learning a langauge...it's easier to do before you're very set in your ways. Meaning if they could groom Bard from the time he was a kid, he could be prepared for the long haul whereas having Tek do it would be like trying to teach an old dog new tricks. You're right, though...looking back on it now, we can easily criticize the trade, but I'll admit that I was one of the Sox fans who was thrilled to see Dougie back. It was kind of done out of desperation on the Sox part...as anytime Wake would start we were starting the game down 2-0 knowing full well we were going to give up unearned runs as a result of passed balls. If my memory serves me correctly, though...DM was the main piece of the deal that brought Loretta here...thusly, after we got DM back, you've gotta look in total about what we gave up to get Loretta. Doesn't look too bad when you look at it that way...although I wish we could have had Loretta for another year or two.

i was in rosarito beach mexico the nite that belli got brought to the park in a limo

in the resort there was a family from argentina

1 side were yank fans

the other sox fans

a battle in the resteraunt broke out when the game started

no s***

a bru ha ha of biblical proportions

little girls squaring off,old ladies dressed in gowns scratching each others faces

1 guy got a bottle broken off on his head, another guy had 2 butter knives aimed at security

the entire family, maybe 25 men women and children had to leave the hotel

mind you this was at 530pm due to the time changes

everyone was sober??

i didnt stop laffin till i got off the plane 2 days later

sox yanks is much bigger than boston ny

Great story...but I wish the players got as into it as the fans do. I want a rivalry where the players hate each other in addition to the fans. The Damon thing showed that this thing is kept alive by the fans and if it weren't for us, Sox/Yanks would be another Sox/Jays or Sox/Os.

its been a while since mickey rivers nettles and the other f***ing heathens ruined our season by taking out bill lee in one of the all time great suckershot moments in history

its been even longer since thurmon and fisk went at it at home plate

billy martins dead

i loved it when petey sent jeter and soriano to the emergency ward on consecutive 1st inning at bats with fastballs off the hands

i loved it when he pointed to his head refering to posada

i loved it when he almost caved in matsuis gigantic skull and matsui went from hitting 540 to 140 for the rest of the series

i loved it when he slammed the gerbil/don zimmer, into the turf

hes gone and our club lost a lot of swagger when petey left town for the bright lights of....flushing meadows

i wouldve loved it more if big gene nelson had the courage to take on the bleachers rather than the poor prick with the rake

hed be using a colostomy bag if security didnt save him

anyways

most guys with 8 figure contracts dont give a f*** about the Ws and Ls after they get theirs

this is why i adored martinez

he didnt give a f*** about anything but winning

i think that who ever hits second should have the best on-base percentage; no matter what speed they have, especially hitting in front of Big Papi

therefore, i nominate youk
