My wife tried some new stuff and it all worked out really well. Orange marmelade glaze on the turkey. Ginger in the carrots. Sausage in the stuffing. Vanilla and brown sugar in the mashed sweet potatoes. Everything was great.

I topped off dinner with a sampling of two of the gifts I got. A glass of JW Black and a Montecristo.

All the indulging aside, the day was about my girls to me. The 3 y/o was up at 5:00 am and it began. She tore through about 1/2 her stuff in the first hour, but slowed as she wanted to play with everything. She finished up what we got her right around the time her grandparents all showed up at our house, so it was on to round two. She kind of got Christmas as a 2 y/o, but this year the sheer joy of the day really sunk in. It was better than being a kid myself.

Overall it was a great day. Good food, good company, and good times. While my wife did a great job putting together the spread, I'm sure I'll be cursing it come Friday as I eat the same stuff for the 5th consecutive day.

i went home for lunch and whacked up the rest of the prime rib for the wife and kids who were still sleeping or napping of xmas at noon

this is the 1st xmas the kids admitted they knew theres no santa despite daddy being fat, jolly and red faced

a transitional period if you will

at 2yrs old all you need to do is wrap a box in paper and watch them go

at 5 they become a bit more materialistic

at 8 they know damn well what they want

now at 10and8 the boy clued the girl in so they addressed their needs with their mother

a bit more reserved than in xmas past as they knew pretty much what they were getting

but i think they appreciate things a bit more now as they can put a price tag on things for the 1st time

Guys, I may have you all beat on the Christmas gift parade. Remember, though, I will be entering only my seventh season as a Red Sox fan since my epiphony at Fenway Park in August of 2000 and I have a lot of catching up to do. Anyway, here's what I got for Christmas

1. A new Red Sox tee shirt, bright red with navy blue trim at the sleeve and neck.

2. A beatuful metal Red Sox trash can that will not be used for any such thing.

3. A nice looking Red Sox clock which not hangs in the center of my baseball room.

4. A Red Sox lamp with the logo really standing out proudly.

5. A Big Papi plastic drinking cup

6. A Big Papi charm and neck chain

7. Red Sox golf balls

8. A bottle of Red Sox hot sauce

You guys must be saying---WHAT THE FAAAAHHHHKKKKK; is this guy a nut? Remember it was my wife, daughter and son-in-law who got me these gifts, and also keep in mind that I am a convert to the Red Sox and converts to anything have the tendency to get totally carried away. Oh yes, three gifts haven't arrived yet. One, a Red Sox mahogony box, a Red Sox travel alarm clock for my trips to Fort Myers and Boston in March and April, and a Red Sox garden flag.

Well, my friends, do I at least get an A- for all this?
