How do you suppose this?

the rangers now have 4 starters and will likely give their 5 spot to either volquez or tejeda. They seem to be happy with their lineup and their pen is solid. They were shopping Otsuka for a starter, now they may not need one. And if they get Zito, it would diminish their want to deal him even further.

Seems like an odd trade b/c the WS were supposed to be high on BM

Plus BM isnt a ground ball pitcher and thats what Texas should be looking for. I dont like BM in that park

I think Danks is a little overated as a prospect but some scouts seem to really like him

and wasnt freddy garcia traded away to open up a spot for BM?

I just emailed WS GM Kenny Williams and told him to lay off the egg nog. If I'm gonna deal with the Rangers, there are only three last names I'd have on my list: Young, Blalock and Texieria.

The ChiSox are either very smart or very stupid. I don't undertsand why they would keep McCarthy for this trade, unless they know something about this kid Danks that no one else knows.

If the Rangers get Zito I'd like them a lot more, but I don't buy Padilla as a #2 (or a good one for that matter). Their offense would have been a lot better with Lee still in it. But F Cat is a solid OF and an underrated acquisition in my book.

Getting out of U.S Cellular should help him. The park actually inflates HR rates 23% higher than it does in Texas.

Unless they really trust Kenny Lofton in CF, and have some sort of plan for next year, I'd assume there could still be interest in a deal with Crisp or Pena.

Danks, a southpaw, turns 22 in April. He was the Rangers' best prospect according to BA. He throws three solid pitches and has pitched well in the minors despite being young for his levels. He'll compete for the fifth spot in Chicago's rotation. He's the prize of the deal.

Got that off of MLBTRADERUMORS.COM, I know its not the most reliable site, but thats what he thinks of Danks. Maybe CHW wanted to go with a young LH pitcher instead of Mcarthy. Maybe they know something about him we don't, but getting two prospects for a realitively low experience ML pitcher is nice.

their plan is to throw a lot of money at Torii Hunter or Andruw Jones.

I understand the White Sox have dealt a good portion of their rotation, but I think the Rangers will eventually be the losers in this deal. Danks could be a number one or solid number two in a few years, while McCarthy's top role will likely be a number 3 on a decent team.

the rumor is that Kenny Williams hates the fact that his entire rotation is a contact rotation and feels that he will make a better long term team by getting some swing and miss guys. Danks is a swing and miss guy. McCarthy is not.

I've been away on Vacation and I just learnt about this trade yesterday and wow the White Sox are just giving away players this year. Dunno what they are thinking over there.

You know what I just realized? That Texas is run by a bunch of frickin morons (the rangers, not the state guys).

ARod was dealt for Soriano. Soriano was dealt for Sledge and Wilkerson. Sledge was dealt with Chris Young for Otsuka and Eaton. Mench was traded with Nix and Cordero for Lee and Nelson Cruz. Lee and Eaton left via FA.

They essentially dealt away ARod, Chris Young, Kevin Mench, Laynce Nix, and Francisco Cordero for Wilkerson, Cruz, and Otsuka in a span of 3 seasons. Man they suck.
