What to do with Matt Clement?

I know Clement is garbage, but lets see if hes any better after surgery.

 

Some have said why not closer? Believe it or not, they are not the first to consider this. I was reading an article awhile back(I read so many I'm not sure where but I'm not BSing, Hopefully i've earned a enough respect around here to be taken seriously). It stated that why not use Clement as a Closer/MR pitcher. He tends to be very good the first time threw the batting order, and the proceeds to get hit later after being seen a few times during the course of the game.

 

I don't really see this as a solution, but I figured I'd mention it. Sorry if it caused any migraines to the readers:D

BoSox, since I like you I will answer this. Instead of taking him out and shooting him would you support sending him down to Pawtucket for a couple of weeks as the closer down there to see if this would work? I don't think it would because his control is not all that consistent, but does seem to do well the first time through the batting order. It might be worth a try.

Clement is owed roughly $10 million in 2007, the last year of his contract. The reports on his shoulder were not good at all. Due to the state of his shoulder, surgery he just had, and all the reab it will take... most will be surprised if he throws even one pitch this year in the majors for Boston. Recently Sean MacAdams said he might be able to resume throwing by maybe June. We are in big trouble if by June we still do not have a closer and the best option is Clement who just started throwing after doctors re-structured his pitching shoulder. Let alone, does everyone remember how he tightens up when he allows a runner to reach base? Thats not the mentality you want your closer to have

As for Mattyboy, I think insurance will cover him this year. He'll never actually pitch for the Sox again thank GOD. But best case scenario is that he's packaged for a bag of balls and someone takes on his salary towards the end of the year.

I haven't posted there for months but some of those guys there like to go on other boards and cause trouble. Fast Freddie and Metro Cowboy are two of those jerks. It wouldn't be bad if they talked about baseball, but they hardly ever do. They claim to be Dodger fans but no little or anything about the team they're supposed to root for. They spend their time degrading blacks, latinos, women, gays and anyone else they have it in for.
