WOWZA! Jennings is a pretty solid pitcher, I'd call him a #3 on a good team. But a young speedy outfielder, a top prospect and another good pitcher? I'd have to agree with B95 here...nice deal by Colorado.

But their pitching is terrible now. Just awful.

Rockies made out like bandits on this one. I mean Jennings is decent but wow, Taveras looks to be a solid ML. And the other two are solid prospects.

Everyone is getting bent over the barrel this off season!

Can you imagine what Beckett would have cost this year? I'm actually kind of glad they got him last season for the price they did.

Just think about that extension they signed Beckett to in July

3 years/$30 million with an option for a 4th year... The Royals are paying more money for Gil Meche than we are for Beckett, just let that set in :D

I cannot believe that a guy who had the HIGHEST ERA IN THE NL got 7mil per season. Beckett would be severely overpaid in this market' date=' but it isnt like he'd be worth it.[/quote']

Well, that's after one year. You're a guy who likes to look at the long run, don't you think it's quite possible for him to be worth it soon enough? I mean, he had his transition year, now the expectations start to take effect.

While I dont think he will have a 5+ era from here on out, I think he has a fatal flaw that will kill him, actually 2 flaws. He is wild and cannot rely on a secondary pitch when needs be. His draw was how nasty his other stuff was and how it complemented his heater. Now, his curve is useless because he cannot keep is hands intact after throwing it and hence he has lost faith in it. Without another pitch or likely 2, he will continue to struggle in the ALE. We should have seen it in RJ too. You cant get by on 2 pitches that are both hard in the ALE. The hitters are just too good.

I think Francis is the #1 but Cook is definitely one of the most underappreciated pitchers in baseball. The man came back from a life threatening injury and turned in a very productive season last year, especially considering the fact that he pitches in Coors.
