It would most likely be someone involved in the Manny Ramirez deal but your guess is as good as mine. It would be nice if the Sox signed Lugo but if his asking price is too high then I can't see the Sox signing him I think that's why Theo has said he's looking at someone in a trade because Lugo might be too much money.

The Sox should have a better sense of whether Julio Lugo will be their shortstop in 2007 after they meet this afternoon with the Levinson brothers, Lugo's agents.

 

Boston's chief rival for Lugo's services would appear to be the Mets, who want Lugo to play second base; it is believed Lugo's preference is to play short for the Sox. The Cubs could still jump in, but there were strong indications that they are out.

Steve Phillips is reporting on ESPN radio that the red sox and Lugo have agreed to terms. The offer on Lugo's plate from the Mets was 4yrs 36 mil and it is believed that the sox did not want to go that high.
