Deep down in this article there's a note about how the Brewers are planning on moving Bill Hall to left field. Given that he hasn't proven that he can hit 35 home runs with any sort of regularity, my opinion is that he loses a ton of value as a corner outfielder versus being a shortstop/third/second baseman. Given the Brewers' plethora of players to cover those positions, it seems they might be willing to move Hall who looks like the odd man out.

I'd be surprised if he hit 35 homeruns again but he's probably a 20ish homerun hitter and a solid defensive player. Plus, he's versatile so he could shift to third if Lowell attracts attention on the trade market. He might be a cheaper option than Lugo and is only 26 so his best years are ahead of him.

I figured I'd throw his name out there as a candidate to play shortstop. No idea what the Brewers would want in trade, but with Hardy, Koskie, Weeks and now Counsell as a backup leaves Hall with no place to go but in the outfield.

Seems the Sox should at least look into it.

Id love to see Bill Hall play for the sox. A good cushin in the lower end of the lineup. but sox fans can only dream.....

I'll have to admit, with whats left out the at SS in the FA market besides Lugo, Hall wouldn't be a half bad choice. Inexpensive, good D wherever he plays( SS,2B,3B ) , and a pretty nice bat. Not sure how his numbers would translate to the AL. I don't think he hit 30 HR, but I would guess that 20 would be realistic, and that is decent production from SS. As far as what it would take to get him, Maybe a couple mid level prospects. That might sound hi for him but he did have a good year last year, which would no doubt raise his trade value for this offseason.

I don't know, thats not an entirely unfair deal. It might be alittle slanted, but Coco and a decent minor leaguer might do it. I don't know if the sox will look into it. They should, I really am not married to the idea of lugo coming here and getting an inexpensive player like hall would help us keep manny. We might be able to have him and drew in the same OF and avoid a luxury tax.

If Lugo falls threw, it could very well be one of those under the radar type deals that could play out nicely. He can play all IF positions besides 1B. I'd say he's worth having on the team for that alone, his bat, age, inexpensive contract are all pluses.

under the radar??? The guy hit 30Hrs last yr, it isnt like you snag a Wood or something, a minor league SS who could become great. This guy just put up a season that would put him in running for MVP if he was a full time SS. I dont see them even wanting to move him at all unless they get bowled over.

Seriously. Bill Hall has TREMENDOUS value to the Brewers. I see no reason why they'd part with him unless they were really impressed with a deal.

Well if he can play an average SS they are wasting some of that value by putting him in the OF. Theoretically, he'd be worth more to a team that needs a SS, the Red Sox, than he is to his current team, so a trade could make both teams better.

the sox dont have what they will want. They dont have enough mlb ready young talent to get a deal done.

He pays an above average SS. The jury is still out on whether or not JJ Hardy can handle the job, so why not keep is .900 OPS in the lineup by putting him in the OF?

If Hardy sucks, he takes over at SS. If not, Milwaukee has their Chone Figgins type player.
