He is also looking for a long-term contract in the nighborhood of $75-$100 million. The Cubs' gargantuan payday to Soriano upped the market price to get Lee. Also Texas main goal is to start beefing up their pitching staff. They dont have much pitching as it is right now anyway

No way! Manny is staying' date=' Lee is no where near the hitter Ramirez is[/quote']

id say lee and young are at least close to equivelent of manny and gonzo at the plate though, still i dont think its enough seeing as the rangers dont really have any good pitching that we would get

I cant see why People just dont get it. You cant replace Manny, he puts fear into managers and pitchers. Manny has created Ortiz's Heroics, with Lee in the 4 hole instead of Manny, Ortiz is walked every time.

Carlos Lee would be a great addition but I would much rather have Manny Ramirez. Carlos Lee is no where near the hitter that Manny is. Manny won't be going anywhere this year. The same thing is going to happen that always does there will be serious talks about Manny being traded but nothing will happen. He will be back in Left next year. I personally think the Sox are too busy trying to sign Drew and Lugo which I am praying that they do cause what a great addition they would be to the lineup. Manny will be staying put I guarantee it.

Carlos Lee is a fatter, worse hitting and almost gonna be just as an expensive version of Manny. This guy is gonna get one of those huge contracts because of the market and be a total pain in the ass for whatever club he goes to. They said he's huge and he only gains weight. He is a DH in the making and incase you haven't noticed, we have that spot filled. Carlos Lee would be the worst signing ever for the Sox.

Manny's $20m per yr for 2 yrs doesn't sound so bad now that Soriano has signed for $136m/8 yrs and someone like JD Drew may command $13m per yr.

I expect if the FO REALLY wanted to move Manny they could do so now much easier than before and receive some value in return....but...

They'll never get equal value for Manny, the best hitter I've ever seen in a Red Sox uniform (I'm not old enough to have seen Ted), and one of the game's best RH hitters ever.

IMO, MANNY is the Sox MVP, not Ortiz. What have Manny's numbers looked like the past two years if he had someone like himself hitting behind him?

Lee is said to be getting a 6 year offer from Baltimore. Who in Gods name runs that Fing team? Can anyone see an Albert Belle, Palmerio,Clark,Sosa(anyone of the horrible contracts they have signed) situation on there hands again? Why is it every year they Orioles try to solve there problems by overspending on 30 something year old power hitters. I'm sure they have offers on the table to C Floyd and M. Mulder too. That team and there FO is a disgrace to any baseball fan. I lived up by DC and went to Sox Orioles games, theres alot of crack in the streets of Baltimore, but now it seems to have made its way to the FO.

They go after players they should have gone after 5 years before, not when there int he twilight of there careers and pay them like there in ther prime. Thats why any hitter with some power never fears where he will play next season, there will always be a roster spot and lots of money if you want to playe for the worst run organization in baseball.

I'll tell you why not Carlos Lee.

He only plays well offensively when he has a chance for an RBI (or when he's playing against the Cubs-he hit two walkoff grand slams against them when he was playing for my Sox), he's a cancer in the clubhouse, to call him a liability in the field would be an insult to liabilities, and he's gonna eat his way out of the league in two years if he doesn't stop saying "yes" when the kid at McDonalds asks him if he wants fries with his order.

And he's on the Astros.

Why do people say this kind of stuff? It's not hard to look up. In 3 minutes, I discovered....

54 out of his 100 HR in the past 3 years were solo shots, and 1004 of his 1884 ABs were bases empty. That means with the bases empty, he hit 54% of his HR in 55% of his ABs. Shocking. That, and, his bases empty BA was better by .005, OBP worse by .001, and SLG better by .008.

He's the same hitter whether or not there are runners on base.

I don't look at numbers. I saw him play here in Chicago his first few years.

And that's why they keep stats. People's memories only remember what sticks out to them, which makes them subjective and jaded.
