First of all, its bad manners to question anyones baseball knowledge out right on a baseball forum, makes you look like an ass. Second of all, I've never eaten sushi in my life.

If you're going to be a jerk, you might as well be a jerk who can actually make a rebuttal rather than be an ******* with nothing to say.

Go ahead, question what I know about baseball, when you don't even make a valid point in your post that shows who lacks in baseball knowledge just fine.

It also seemed like Beckett threw a lot less curves this past year than he usually does/did when he was in FLA. It was almost as is management wanted him to not throw them as often' date=' give the blisters a chance to heal up and the arm to actually get to 200 innings, and said the hell with outcomes. I know Beckett is a stubborn s.o.b., but there is no way a big-league pitcher with a curve as good as his keeps attacking AL power hitters with fastballs all the time, unless he has been, let's say strongly encouraged to stay away from his curve. Hopefully, the handcuffs will be off this season, and he will mix in his curve more often.[/quote']

Yup. I always thought Beckett was too good to seemingly absentmindedly attempt to power his fastball past everyone he faced. He has a great fastball, but you don't get to the 'bigs without being able to catch up to almost any fastball (without an offspead threat).

Where was Beckett's curve? The change that he threw effectively in FLA? Where are all of those pitches?

I'm setting myself up for a scaffolds rant, but I'm going to say it:

I don't think that's scaffolds writing, at least not the one I've seen before. This s*** is manic and I'm not trying to be nosy, but its just too obvious to avoid at this point. Every post is filled with obscenities. Shocking.

I'm going to have to read back and see what started this...

May I ask what illustrious educational institution you are a product of? "What did you said?" Your grammar just plain sucks.

Yeah my grammar sucks, but heck don't feel bad because your baseball knowledge sucks.

Scaffolds or not....what do you think youre proving by being a dickhead on a forum. No one thinks youre being "cool". Since no one knows who you are, are you trying to be a little tough guy, have you been hurt a lot out in reality? If you are someone else are you trying to ruin a reputation? Do you feel insecure about your knowledge of baseball? What is it man, what is it.

Nobody wants to play guitar hero with me even when I'm sober. :thumbdown

that said, if scaffolds is just a really bad drunk then that's fine. If he was sober during that rant I'm calling the department for human services and locking my door. :D

i think p-dawg is gonna be a good starter but man was he nasty as a closer .. beckett needs to throw more off speed stuff all al hitters can mash the fast ball needs to have more cofedence in other pitches ..

I like the idea that as part of a benifit for the future type deal that Beckett was told to lay off the curve. It was mentioned by another poster nad seemed in general to make some sense. Maybe the coaches,FO or whoever decided and told Beckett to lay off the curves, get his finger skin healthy(blisters), and get his arm used to throwing 200 innings. This year was the first he´s ever been to 200 innings and not had blister problems or been on the DL. As smart as I see Beckett I can´t imagine him being so daft that all season he would try to blow hitters away with his fastball. In ways this does make sense. I expect to see more off speed stuff next year from Beckett. And because of it I will make a guess as to next years stats, 17 to 20 wins plus 200 innings and an ERA around 3. Just a guess and now we will have to wait and see.

Gte him used to 200 innings? He should be expected to throw 200 innings. If I had a pitcher on my team who was extremely effective throwing a curve, yet got blisters every time or he threw them, I'd send him to a doctor to see how he can build up the skin in that area. Then I'd work my ass off trying to develop him a devastating 2nd pitch. If all of that fails, then I tell him to throw effectively, I dont care if you develop blisters. Because 150 innings of a 3.5 era are a whole lot better than 200 innings of a 5.0 era.
