I agree get him now and lock him up long term the 3rd base is set for the future, I would expect being around Manny and Papi wouldn't hurt his hiting either, trade lowell to s.d for linerbrink and use him as set up or give him a shot at closer.

I actually give him 15-16 million over 4-5 years' date=' with a no trade clause. We need him and we need to keep him from the Yankees.[/quote']

unless the Yankees trade A-rod, which I dont see happening there would be no reason for Ramirez to go to New York.

ARAM could be what the Red Sox front office was being hush hush about, because you can't discuss another player under contract. This I think is the player they have been waiting for. He would fit in great with Boston in the 5 hole, and his batting might even get better being around Manny and Papi. Just some thoughts nothing i've read of course just some forum speculation.

I wish the Red Sox would go get him, I know they could do it. But it does seem ARAM is leaning towards the cubbies and that this was just a move to get a little more money out of Hendry. But you never know what team might offer him.

If he comes at 13-14 million for 4 years sign this guy.

He's a 30+ homer hitter with an improving glove. 28 years old means he's in his prime right now. a 4 year deal puts him at 32 which is the beginning of the decline.

Sure, the Cubbies are his first choice... but it'd be hard to turn down a chance to protect Manny effing Ramirez in the 5 hole.

This guy is a must sign. Then trade Lowell for pitching.

Cubs Retain Aramis Ramirez

Wow - an about face on everything we've heard lately about Aramis Ramirez. I was just reading about this complete failure and nodding. Ken Rosenthal reports that the Cubs have re-signed Ramirez at five years and at least $70MM. $70MM would be very much a hometown discount, but we still don't know the exact numbers. I guess Ramirez actually is fond of Chicago and the Cubs.

By the way, why isn't ESPN on this yet? They should just acknowledge that Rosenthal does good work and link to his scoop.
