Being a Yankee fan, and on many Yankee forum sites, I have yet to find an intelligent Red Sox fan that posts. You guys seem on the ball, so as a part of the Evil Empire, I am curious to know what is the Red Sox game plan during the off-season. As you can see, I'm new here, so I look forward to being an active [although probably hated] member of TalkSox.

You won't be hated. There are some Yankee posters who I don't mind here at all. I dont consider myself simply a sox fan, but a baseball fan in general.

Sox have many different things they can do to try and improve this team, or change this team (3B, SS, 2B, 1B, RF, Manny) but the one thing that does seem evident is the need to be creative and bring in some pitching help. The market is thin, so thats why I say Theo needs to be creative. I have been a defender of his all along, and this offseason is an important one for him and his security here. I think he will put together some 3 or 4 way deals to bring in some help (no idea who, so I wont speculate). He has a knack of going under the radar and doing things that nobody expects so it will be interesting.

The truth is that I gained a lot of respect for Red Sox fans in 2003. I sat next to a Red Sox fan for the 9th and 10th innings of Game 7. One of the nicest guys I ever met who was a part of the Red Sox Nation. He told me that if they were to win it, he didn't want to win it any other way. I respected that at that point, with the outcome still not known.

I can honestly say that as part of the Bleacher Creatures at Yankee stadium. I have been out there for 5 years with season tickets...we actually felt for you fans. We really did. We realized how close the teams were, and we could have been on the other side. We would never admit it at the time to you, but to each other, we felt bad for you.

You had your moment in the sun, due to the Yankees completely s***ing the bed in 2004.

Now..we both suck. f*** 'em. We should turn to another sport instead of the sorry collection in NY and Boston.

I say bobsledding. All Yankee fans will cheer for the Jamaican Bobsledding team. Anyone that can get that stoned at that speed on ice they have never seen in their home country deserved to be cheered. By us. Find your own bobsled team to cheer, former Red Sox fans.

The offseason game plan has to start with Manny Ramirez.

They either need to figure out how to make him happy for 2 more seasons or trade him but they've got to make that decision yesterday.

If he's gone they've got some serious restructuring to do. They need to add at least 2 potent bats (because Manny cannot be replaced by one player) and improve in other areas (pitching, defense, speed?)

Other than figuring out Manny, figuring out the middle infield and right field, and rebuilding the pitching staff, it should be an uneventful offseson. :D

I disagree. The offseason game plan should have nothing to do with Manny because he should stay right where he is.

To me, it starts with the bullpen. Theo needs to be aggressive in bringing in bullpen help. Speier, lidge, and linebrink have been talked about. Speier I think is key. I don't know who else is out there off the top of my head but its not too too weak on the market this year.

We need one starter doesn't have to be an ace, but it can't be another clement=esque disaster. If we get Matsuzaka, cool, but really Vincente Padilla gets the job done.

I said FIGURING out Manny Ramirez, I didn't say trading him.

if they decide to keep him they've got to stick with that decision and build the team around the fact that Manny's in left field.

I don't think they can do anything without making that decision FIRST-- that's all I'm saying.
