you're kidding right? it's going to be torture with the crap that is wmp playing all the time. he is crap totally crap. ok lets hear hit "he hits for power" womp womp womp. sure, he got power, but that power is useless unless you actually hit the f***in ball! yea, hello! and not to mention he couldn't field to save his life! he is the biggest mistake the one hit boy wonder ever made. there's a reason the Reds gave him up... and we've seen it.

It's tragic that trot won't be back. things won't be the same. defense in the outfield won't be the same. he might not have been healthy all the time but damn he was f***in great. wmp was out twice since he got here! So, yea he'll be real useful, NOT!

Best of luck to ya trot. we'll miss you buddy. i'll cry everytime i see WMP slowly making his nasty ass way to right field....

I dont think the point can be argued. At this point' date=' WMP is far and away more valuable to the club than Trot Nixon.[/quote']He may be more valuable than Trot, but that's not saying much, because WMP is at best a 4th OF. If he hits 40 HRs next year 38 of them will be against starters with heaters that top out at 90 or with ERA's over 5. He will also strike out 190 times.

I take 40 homers next year even if he strikeouts 150 plus times.....that's more than nixon has had for homeruns in the last 3 years. Nixon is washed up and WMP is an upgrade. its that simple.

While this is probably true, the type of pitchers that you see on a consistent basis aren't pitchers that top out much higher than 90. Sure, we're f***ed if he faces a Santana/Halladay-esque pitcher, but the most common pitchers aren't of that caliber. WMP's home runs will come at a consistent basis going by that logic.

2007 who do you think wouldve had the better offensive season, Trot or Wily Mo? We're taking about corner outfielders, who are supposed to be prototypical power hitters. Trot has already passed his prime. Yea its a shame to see him go, many good memories... But please you are fooling yourselves thinking Trot still deserved a starting job in Boston

I'm with you on that. WMP is alright, but I don't think he's an upgrade over Trot

You're kidding. Trot hit 27 homeruns combined the last 3 years. Its a safe bet with a 1 full season that WMP can do that. Trot is pretty useless on this team and for you to say he is an upgrade over Trot well its obvious you don't know baseball.

Nobody knows baseball who disagrees with you .

All you have to do is look at age and statistics. Trot Nixon is not a good ballplayer anymore and anyone who thinks he is better than WMP right now is kidding themselves.

I know trots history the last three years .Hes had a rough stretch of injuries for sure .But hes still young [32 or 33] and nobody works harder and for the right price i believe the sox should sign him because hes due for a bust out year .Postion players if healthy arent washed up at 33 .Wily moe is nothing more than a dh and i dont think he will get any where near 40 hrs .The guy cant hit good pitching and we know about his fielding .

When your as injured as much as Nixon 32-33 is old. He isn't going to bust out anymore. He is past that point where the Red Sox should even rely on someone like him. WMP will get alot closer to 40 homeruns than I can say for Trot Nixon. Face it the guy cannot stay healthy and when he does his bat is lacking big time. Nixon would be lucky to ever hit 20-25 homeruns again in a season. It's time to move past the Trot Nixon era in Boston.

Wily Mo is also 6 or 7 years younger than Trot. If you think Trot is due for a breakout season at 33' date=' then you MUST think WMP is going to have a breakout season really soon, and then some.[/quote']

Pena is 8 years younger than Nixon. He was 24 all of this year.

WMP's best days are ahead of him while Trot Nixon's best days are behind him and anyone who think that trot will bust out is only kidding themselves.

we will have to agree to disagree .

ok , pena is not a big upgrade over nixon , if anything he's not ,his fielding sucks and his OBP sucks even more not to mention he gets injured alot like nixon so where's the big upgrade? homerun hitter>? BTW jsinger how the hell is pena gonna hit alot of homeruns when this year he only averaged one in 25 AB , wich is not alot better than nixon so wheres all this homerun pop your talking about ?

Keep in mind that Pena was suffering from a hamate bone injury, and he still hit .300. Over his career Pena's hitting one every 17 AB's. Over the last three years, he's averaging one every 16 AB's.

His fielding is below average, which is why he should be moved to CF. He's better there.

Age is another factor. Nixon's a guy who's more apt to decline, due to his style of play, and knack for getting injured.

Wow, you're the first one that's questioned Pena's power. (BTW, Nixon averaged one HR every 48 AB's, not close)

Posted
Nixon was 1 homer every 47.6 At-bats while WMP was 1 every 25 at-bats. And WMP wasn't playing everyday also. I would say 1 in 25 in a alot better than what nixon puts up.

pretty close to me in a full season with 600AB pena would get 20HR and nixon would get 12 not much of a difference to me

still not the point you keep saying all of this power he's gonna have and hit 40 HR when he's never did it , if he keeps this pace next year he'll hit 20

Pena had 276 At-bats. Its a pretty good bet he will easily get to 20 homers next year with the hamate injury past him and conistent playing time while nixon will likely struggle to reach 20 homers again.
