He strikes out 1 of every 3 ABs. He has n't improved in that area or with regard to his patience at the plate where he has consistently walked about 6.5% of the time throughout his short career. I don't think we will be seeing any marked improvement in those areas next year either. If he is given the full time RF job and he stays healthy' date=' we can expect him to be chasing 200 K's.[/quote']

Expected of Trot in 2007: 7-13 HRs, 50-65 RBIs with sprinkle of a new injury to miss more time

Expected of Wily in 2007: 25-30 HRs, 85+ RBIs

And Im being generous saying Trot could reach 13 HRs next season. Wily Mo, in less games & ABs, has hit 3 more HRs & 10 less RBIs than Trot has this season. Like kusushi said, its a joke to actually assume that Trot would be the more productive option next year. If I were told: "Ok Wily Mo will come close to 200 Ks while having a 25-30 HR/85+ RBI season"... Im not going to be pulling my hair out.

You know what' date=' you're probably right. I don't know about 200 K's, he isn't Dunn-esque, but he is up there. You're not gonna find the perfect ball player anywhere. I think his defense will be adequate enough to live with, bad enough to complain about in a loss. His hitting will be good enough so that people won't question why Nixon isn't in right, and he'll K enough to give the papers something to gripe about.... and us too. At the end of the day, I think Pena is deserving of a shot.[/quote']I could live with a lineup where he is batting 7th, but if he is batting any higher the lineup will not be a very strong one.

I'm not arguing for Trot to be the starting RF. I'd prefer that they pick up a starting RF whether through a trade or FA, because I think Wily Mo will continue to be dominated by above average pitchers. The team doesn't need more help hitting bums. It needs guys that can hit quality pitcher. Against those guys, he just waves at 3 pitches and takes a seat. It's very frustrating.

you forgot to mention all the errors wily mo will make next year.i for one am horrified at the thought of wily mo starting in right next year .hopefully the sox will use him as trade bait considering we already have a dh.

If Wily Mo has a 30 HR/100 RBI season next year, Im pretty sure everyone will be talking about his next step to becoming a powerful middle of the lineup guy. Watch out, next season when he's hitting his fair share of HRs, you might end up cheering him on. I just find it laughable how no one cant come to realization of what 30 HRs/100 RBIs mean. Most fans want to see that out of their players

I guarantee he will not be traded, have fun sulking and turning tv off when he's getting the big hits for Boston
