I don't wish bad things on Pedro but Theo looks smart letting him walk.
Well that would put him at no better than even, because he looks pretty dumb for letting Damon walk. Smart move on Pedro or not, he's pitching for a playoff team as is Derek Lowe. We've been out of any race since mid -August, so how smart was he. Pedro's replacement (Clement) is much worse broken down physically than Pedro, and on his best day he wasn't 1/10 th of the pitcher that Pedro was in his mediocre years. So, let's factor on the $24 million that was flushed down the toilet to replace Pedro. Over two years, Pedro has given the Mets 24 wins for $26 million, while Clement has won 18 games over the 2 years for a cost of $24million, because he has won his last game in a Red Sox uniform. At least for the first two years, it has been a bad deal for Boston, although the team does get the float on the last $8 million for an additional year in which they will get no wins from Clement..

boy pedro looks great for the playoffs . that means dreaded mets out in first round .. you herd it here first

Goddamn it with you and the predictions. And you're a f***ing tool. How the hell could you be happy to see Pedro "go down?"

get off of this board if you cannot recognize what Pedro did for the franchise. I have said it on this board before: he is my favorite player I have ever seen. If I could pick one guy I want to see do well, it is Pedro. Are you a Red Sox fan?

Pedro Martinez is the reason I became a Red Sox fan, a little more respect please

and this adam guy isnt a Red Sox fan, he's just here for the Bud Light

sorry did not think it was that bad i dont want the guy dead or anything

Well, for the record, we don't think cheering a player's injury is "not a bad thing". It just makes you look stupid and pathetic.

I think you can delete your own thread if you want...

I'm actually glad I didn't have to watch Petey go down with the Sox. The fact it's happening with the Mets - who grossly went after him with gobs of cash, makes me feel a little better about it. But if I had to watch him go down like this with the Sox I'd really feel bad.

There are only a few guys I wish would have retired as a Red Sox, and Petey was one of them.

Wouldn't it be a decent career choice if he chose to take 07 off, get his shoulder worked on this offseason and come back his old self (circa 2002) in 2008?

You dont ever criticize the greatest pitcher in franchize history, the sox havent and never will be the same with his departure. Nothing but respect for the man whos a HOF'er in any baseball fans mind. theres no telling where the Mets will end up (personally I'd like to see them have success) but here's a look at Petey in the postseason:

Lets just see what the two more years on his contract bring' date=' hopefully no more trips to the DL[/quote']

The next 2 seasons are likely to be even worse. Age has caught up to him I hate to say. He put up a 4.48 era in the NL East. That likely translates to 5.48 in the AL East.

I've seen a guy who hasn't been able to get his changeup by anyone recently. His fastball barely clocks 85 mph. His curveball is flat. He has control, but no command.

Do you really expect this guy to be a dominant pitcher again?

not really expect at this point, I still would like to see him have success though, I think alot of people can agree on that

Why not? He's not a Red Sox anymore, he's open game. He's not good, plain and simple. It's critical, but true.

That's a reach, the Red Sox are two years removed from Pedro's departure. They made the postseason without him, and even with him, they wouldn't have made it this year.

But last year they might have gone deeper in the playoffs maybe even a repeat if they had Petey.
