I just tried mlb.tv, it appears that Fox still gets its blackout rights even though it isn't airing any games. I f***ing hate Fox. They have s***** sports coverage, they are the epicenter of trash-TV, and they ruin Saturday baseball. Eff-Yoo Fox!

Hinske stinkskies. I hope he goes away in the offseason. If he is on the ML Roster next year that would suck, and if he has a regular role, the Sox will be a s*** team.

I completely agree. Out here in Oregon they WERE showing the White Sox-Mariners game, then the Marlins and Phillies. But once those games are over they should allow the rest of the games, right?

Of course they won't. Fox completely f***s everything up. MLB should realize that national broadcasts aren't that big a deal for baseball fans. Teams play every single day and fans find their ways to watch games without national broadcasts; either the baseball package on cable, or direct tv or mlb.com, in any case the games are adequately covered for fans willing to spend some money (I'm one of them, every year). There is no excuse for Saturday always being a difficult day to watch the Red Sox. On Saturdays I want to make breakfast and sit around watching the f***ing game. Jesus.

I disagree. I don't think they should have blackout rights at all. Their blackout doesn't supercede local broadcasts. I regularly get Marlins or D-Ray games on Saturdays - Orlando gets both for some reason. The only thing their blackout applies to is EI or MLB.TV, and people pay good money for those services. If the customers are paying, they should get every game. I won't subscribe next year.

I will, however, get a slingbox and send it to some family up there that has NESN. EFF-YOO Fox!!!

I figured someone would complete the thought for me. I'm still just brooding that I can't watch this game

(which might be indicitive of how obsessed a fan I am... why would anyone WANT to watch this team right now?)

(answer to my own question: I like to watch the youngsters and Papi. Especially Pedroia, I love watching that guy).

But when games are supposed to be on FOX they aren't on NESN, are they?

The only time I get blackouts are with Saturday FOX games and occasionally late-running Sunday ESPN games.

At least there is a rationale basis for the blackout rights while they are airing a game. I like your idea about the sling box. Are they difficult to install?

NEW YORK -- A jarring collision left first baseman Nick Johnson laying in pain along the right-field turf, halting play for several minutes of the Nationals' game against the Mets on Saturday.

In the eighth inning, Johnson and right fielder Austin Kearns were both attempting to track down a David Wright pop fly when the two collided, creating a spray of sunglasses, caps and gloves.

Johnson was in limited motion for several minutes as Nationals trainers attended to the apparent injury, attaching a splint to Johnson's lower right leg. A white medical cart was brought onto the field, upon which Johnson was lifted and driven through the right-field bullpen gates for medical transport.

Johnson, who bit onto a towel to help quell what appeared to be tremendous pain, was given a standing ovation by the Shea Stadium crowd as the medical cart departed. Play resumed as Robert Fick replaced Johnson at first base, and George Lombard replaced Kearns in right field.

The 28-year-old Johnson was one of Washington's key offensive contributors this season. In 148 games, he batted .288 with 23 home runs, 46 doubles, 77 RBIs and 10 stolen bases.

I'll be finding out tomorrow. I have one now, and I need to go up to the hardware store tomorrow to get a splitter for the cable line that feeds my cable modem. According to the box you supply it signal to the internet through a router, a cable signal, and install the software and you are set. Next spring, I'll send it up to my wife's uncle who lives in Sandwich and coordinate with him about setting it up. No more opponent broadcasts. No more subscription fees. No more blackouts. :D
