Loretta should be on the bench when these games are meaningless. The goal right now is to develop Pedroia not play that scrub Loretta who won't even be back next year.

I agree that Pedroia should be playing in these games, but Loretta is hardly a scrub. If everyone in te lineup had been as consistent as Loretta, the team would have been better off. There were a lot of things wrong with the '06 Sox, but Loretta was not one of the problems.

Who cares if he was an allstar. he didn't deserve to be. He was only an allstar because the boston fans stuffed the ballots for him. His empty BA in my opinion and his failure to hit for any type of power has killed this team this year.

You have really gone over the edge if you think Loretta has killed the '06 Sox. I guess the terrible starting pitching and bullpen had nothing to do with it, or replacing Damon's stick with Crisp's, or another half-year from Nixon, or Varitek's .240 avg. and injury. You lose credibility with ridiculous remarks like that.

Loretta is like 50th on the list of reasons why the Sox didn't succeed this year, with the FO taking the top 5 spots. I'm on board for the long-term plan, but it was the reason they weren't aggressive about this year, and denying it is ignoring reality.

I'd say the top 5 were Tek getting hurt, Beckett having troubles, Wake getting hurt, Clement being an ass, Foulke being a loser. The FO didn't do much, but didn't have a chance. Who could they have gotten to fix the holes? Loretta is no scrub. He's been great. He is what he always has been - a less powerful Billy Mueller. And unlike Mueller, he's not really clutch. But still, Loretta's been EXACTLY as advertised. If it weren't for Padroia I'd want him back.

Yeah, Loretta wanst brought in to hit HRs or bat in runs, he was brought in to make contact, advance the elad-off runner, or get on for big papi, which he has done.
