Anibal Sanchez now has a 2.89 ERA afer throwing a no hitter tonight. Hanley Ramirez is proving to be a very capable major leaguer in his rookie season and will probably only get better. The future is very bright for both.

So what did the Sox get back? A grossly underachieving(or maybe he's just overrated because of one good postseason) starting pitcher who's given up over 30 homers with a 5.11 ERA in Josh WAY BACKett. Who also happens to be 4 years older than Sanchez as well. Then there's Lowell who's having a very good season, but is he the future? Not a chance. He's 32 and over the hill.

So, clearly this move says the sox are going for it this year by getting what they thought would be now talent. So then why at the trading deadline did they not make a move as if they were more in the rebuilding mode? Awful Job Theo.

Guess what he wasn't on the job then and also you can't judge a trade on 1 year you fool. All you are is a troll.

As of NOW it is just a terrible move. Theo had a bad year. I know it seems strange since he doesn't play, but that's what happend.

So what's 1 more year going to do about Lowell's age? Hanley was the future and would have been perfect for the red sox right now. This was a 1 sided trade now and will be looked that way 5 years from now. I realize Theo has made some outstanding moves, but this is his valley.

This wasn't Theo's move. He wasn't the GM when it happened, and he didn't want to make it. That said, I STILL like the move. I look forward to watching Beckett pitch. He's fun to watch and when he's pitching well he's unbelievable.

It hurt when we traded Sanchez more than Hanley. Sanchez may have been the best pitcher in their system. Hanley I could take, although now he looks pretty damn good and I guess we're seeing what all the hype was about.

Theo's worst move was not unloading Hansen, Lester and MDC or Crisp for Oswalt when he had the chance.

I gave you his ERA. That's why. And congrats on abusing him in July. how that is relevant is beyond me.

Yeah, officially he didn't have the GM title, but I'm sure he had something to do with it. He wouldn't have gone back if he didn't endorse this move.

Ever consider looking at his K/BB ratio. That will show you a better idea how he is really doing.

LOL, yeah, let's only focus on the not as good stats because we're bitter we traded this guy and got an over the hill 3B and a starter who can't pitch in the AL. Besides, that stat has improved anyway and he's only 22 years old.

Are u stupid? because it sure sounds like it. There is no way the red sox would be in first place if they kept Anibel Sanchez and Hanley Ramirez. Why because they would have been in the minors for this organization.

It's a great ERA built on games against Washington, the Dodgers, Milwaukee, Houston, Atlanta and Arizona. He hasn't even faced the Mets or the Cards. When he faced 2 major league teams that could hit, he gave up 7 runs including 3 homers against the Red sox in 4 1/3 innings and he gave up 8 runs on 8 hits and 6 walks against the Phillies in in 4 1/3 innings. Here's his game log. I would n't take Sanchez on your '07 fantasy team just yet.

So you're telling me you're going to start Josh Johnson(was that his name? well he sucks either way) and Kyle Snyder over Anibal Sanchez? Hanley/Gonzalez as SS would have been great.

2 major league teams that could hit, what a great sample size that is.

You're assuming. In the book "Feeding the Monster" it says basically that he came back after the move even though he didn't completely agree with the move. He wouldn't have made it, but Lucchino made the move soon after Theo left partly as a jab at Theo and to show the Nation that everything was fine in the FO.

It's not like it is obviously that bad of a deal. Remember: Sanchez is pitching in the weak NL. He has pitched well, but Beckett pitched very well in his seasons in the NL too. Beckett has playoff experience and I imagine he will get a shot in the playoffs again in the next few years. Lowell has played well and could win a gold glove this season. This isn't some Ruthian thing here.

2.88 to 5.11? I realize there's going to be a difference, but I don't think it's nearly 2.5 runs.

I hate to break it to you but his success has been based on a very small sample size. I just find it interesting that the two teams that he faced that could hit beat him like a pinata.

I'd love to see how he would do in the AL east with his K/BB ratio. I say that ERA would jump a bit don't you think.

He's my guy. He has my vote. I am confident that he'll be sticking it up your ass many time in the future.;) Enjoy.

I wouldn't exactly call your sample size impressive. Clearly every pitcher who pitches a no hitter early in his career become great.

Actually try if we didnt have everyone start getting injured around the all-star break/trading deadline we'd still be in first place

Troll, and dont even try to argue you arent trolling, a yankee fan making these type of threads on a Sox forum site just screams out trollish... Theo was not working in the Sox FO at the time they made the trade, all accounts are that he was against the trade because of losing his coveted young players.

Also the Sox gave them Anibal Sanchez to compensate for the Marlins asking price for the higher ranked Jon Lester

Freddy Sanchez & Mike Gonzalez for Jeff Suppan

i think todd sauerbrauten was involved in the deal too

neither pitcher made the postseason roster

the guy makes a valid point
