He might be NL manager of the year. He led the Marlins to contention in the W/C despite all the bad picks for them to finish in last.

If he gets fired, I'm not sure Girardi would be so quick to go and try to turn around another bottom feeder for the second straight year. As for the Red Sox getting him, I'm not sure that that would get the best PR reaction. Girardi is regared as a Yankee and the Red Sox fans may not like someone from the "enemy" steering there ship. It is pretty similar to the Mets hiring Randolph, in my opinion.

Johnny Damon was regarded as a Red Sox and was remembered for putting the final nail into the coffin of the 04 Yanks with his 2 HRs, 5 RBIs in game 7. Yankee fans have qucikly turned their stance 180 about him

Its all about production, if he manages a winning team for Boston, you'll be hearing no complaints. Personally I would be for it but I think Tito will be given another chance in 07

Which has worked out pretty well for the Mets, no?

I think Girardi would be a perfect hire for Boston, so I'm praying he goes to the Cubs. In a perfect world, I would have Girardi be the heir to the Torre throne.

Great, so there is a good possiblility that hanley will be the starting SS for a playoff team while Ortiz and Manram watch the playoffs-------Nice work FO:rolleyes:

Not all hope is lost on Beckett becoming teh ace of the staff, or a solid #2 starter for years in a Sox uni

Lowell was a great pickup and has out-perforned shunning expectations

It cant be acted as if it was a one-sided deal

Also it is not a given that the Marlins will win the wild card. They have to leap frog the Reds, Padres, Phillies & Giants. Take a gander at their September schedule

It's a fair point, but keep in mind it's the National League. Just about anybody can beat anybody else there, and have you convinced they are the best team there. The Reds got hot, the Dodgers got hot, the Phillies are now the trendy pick. The Wild Card is a crap shoot, and the Marlins have as good a shot as anyone in the NL.

I never said it was a bad idea. All I was saying was that in my opinion I think a great deal of Red Sox fans, especially the ones with tons of hatred for the Yankees, might be against the move.

Well correct me if I'm wrong, but when the Mets were searching for a new manager directly after the end of the 2004 season, many Met fans were calling up Mike and the Maddog and stating that they did not want a Yankee running the Mets and that they wanted to do things their own way.

personally i've never been a big fan of Tito. i dont think he's a good manager at all and his success in '04 and '05 was more because of a talented team than his managing ability. also, i think guys like Tek, Papi and Schilling kept the team together more than he did. Speaking of Tek maybe when he retires....? but anyways, girardi, wouldnt work in Boston. Why? one player. the same player that is the reason we keep getting soft, useless managers. MANNY RAMIREZ (pedro used to play a part too, but now it's just manny). God forbid anyone upset the almighty manny. girardi is more of a hard lined manager and a little more demanding than tito and he would not work well with manny i dont think. basically the sox wont be able to get a real manager until manny's gone. so we may as well save the money and just throw a wally bean bag on the bench as our manager.

i think Bill Simmons said it when he refered to the NL as quadruple A. I honestly don'tthink Hanley would do so well in the AL, like Renatria

oh yah i love the idea of having Joe Girardi.

Edit: Oh yah i just realized... No more long hair for Manny if he does become manager and idk if he would like Manny so on second thought pass.
