Regardless of whether things turn around between now and the end of the season, losing 3 straight in a five game series against the yankees is frustrating. Add the fact that before this thing started, the division title was still within reach makes it a little more frustrating. I've got a few things to say, and most people on here do. Rather than bicker with each other all over the forum, lets keep it all in here.

Anyhow, I've got some things to say to Theo. I understand not giving up the young guns at the deadline. While it frustrates some, pitching is tough to find, we've got it all through our system and holding on to that is great. That said, maybe the best upside of having young pitchers is the money they save you. Its about damn time they use some of that money. The last two offseasons the FO has just not competed on the FA market. They negotiate and won't pay the going rate for impact guys and settle for matt clements and julian tavarez's when there are Millwoods and BJ Ryan's to be had. I know there is not a ton out there this year either. There is Zito, there is Matsuzaka, and there is Schmidt. Its time to pay up. Get this team back in it. The payroll is flexible due to some of these guns now go and use that felixibility to bring us back to the post season. BRING IN PITCHING.

More to come...

Bring in Matsuzaka, Schmidt, and Meche. They have the money. Stay away from Zito. That is all.

EDIT: Nevermind, that's not all. Trade for Vernon Wells. If you need to send Coco and Hansen to do it, do it.

I'd stay away from Gil Meche before Barry Zito. This offseason needs to be good or else Theo has no more pull with me.

Start that deal with Ellsbury and Lester and then the Blue Jays might think about trading him within the division.

we suck thats all I have to say

See? This is all I'm saying. WE DON'T SUCK! We are a good team with some great young tallent. This is evident by the fact we'll probably win 90 games with 5 rooky pitchers and a totally rebuilt infield and outfield (minus Manny and Youk). This year, the Yankees are the better team. As they should be with 90 million more in payroll than us.

We do not suck. We are a good team who will get better. Nobody gets this and I'm annoyed.

Do you have a link to where you read that was his asking price? I've been hearing all along that he is asking for 5 and 55. Oh and the posting cost is 20 million. Your numbers are just wrong I think.

LL should go to JH and say "I gave the kid a shot to run things his own way. I've pretty much stayed out of his way. He had free rein and look where we are. Theo needs to be on a short leash taking orders from me. If you disagree, you'll see more of the same next year and the year after because the kid doesn't have a clue. In two more years you'll have to fire him, because the fans will be demanding it."

What good omens have there been that the Sox will at least win the wild card?

Schilling & Wells stand as the only current reliable starters

Papelbon is the only good reliever out of the pen

6-12 in August

16-19 since All-Star Break

3 game losing streak to NY... at Fenway Park to a tune of being outscored 39-20

Theyre just a dead bird falling from the sky, only a miracle coupled with threats can save them from ending the season like how they are currently playing

So the Sox are on a little bit of a skid. Big deal. Happens to every team a few times every season.

4-1/2 games out in the middle of August. Big deal.

Maybe they'll win the division and maybe they won't, but I don't see what all the crying and nail-biting is all about.

because they have a serious pitching problem thats why...

but im not giving up, as confusing, frustrating, etc. as its going, still gotta believe.

A little bit of a skid?
We are in the midst of a total meltdown. It's like a the 2001 spiral when Varitek went down mixed with a dose of the 1978 Boston Massacre. This isn't a little skid. This is an annihilation and an embarassment.

Yeah, I was just too lazy to say anything more than what I did. Thanks

Bring in Matsuzaka or Schmidt

and id also go after the best relievers out there. This series has shown what a lack of good pitching, can do to a team

What about trading Lester, Hansen, David Murphy, Delcarmen and cash for Roy Oswalt and Dan Wheeler ???

1. Oswalt

2. Schilling

3. Matsuzaka/Schmidt

4. Beckett

5. Wake

1. Youk

2. Loretta

3. Oritz

4. Manny

5. Willy Mo

6. Lowell

7. Varitek

8. Pedroia

9. Coco

LRP--Dinardo/Tavarez

MRP--Wheeler

MRP--Hansen

SU--fransisco cordero

SU--Eddie Guardado

CL--Paps

hinske--OF/1ST/3RD

mirrabelli--C

Cora--INF

Kapler--5th OF

Pena--1st

to many moves for the timid Theo to make, but id love to see a team like that

With that pitching staff, the offense wont need to put up 6+ runs a game like they do this year.

Thats too many players for Roy Oswalt and (Dan Wheeler?). After this season I can see the Astros going into full rebuild mode. They are going to lose Andy Pettite and Roger Clemens after this season. The pitching staff and run at the playoffs is over for the Astros.

I think now would be a time to see the Red Sox go after Roy Oswalt and Lance Berkman but at what price? The Astros would save a fortune from the two players but would request a fortune as well (I think unless they would just want financial relief).

Matsuzaka would be a huge pickup for the Red Sox but extremely expensive. Nonetheless he is absolutly sick and should dominate in the MLB as well. If he becomes available he should be the best pitcher available this offseason (23 years old?).

Just imagine finding a way to add Berkman, Oswalt, and Matsuzaka. Its a wish that probably won't happen but its the moves this team needs to make because this team needs a serious makeover on the veteran side.

I think the Red Sox really need a new pitching coaching staff. Every pitchers ERA is climbing. They must work with Josh Beckett on another pitch, work with Lester on his control, and for next season....help Jonathan Papelbon develop a solid off-speed breaking pitch so he can become an effective starter. I'm just not sure the current pitching coaches know how to handle this.

then add Berkman to the trade??

maybe they can throw Berkman into any deal with Oswalt, kinda like how Lowell was thrown into the Beckett deal :D
