Even Millar can take second on Crisp's arm.

I know this is off topic...but did anyone see Damon's throw the other night in the bottom of the 11th (?) I think on the basehit to shallow centerfield to win the game for the WhiteSox? It was absolutley comical...one of my favorite highlights of the season thus far.

An empty .300 average to say the least
He has the 5th highest OBP on the team, higher than Crisp, Gonzo, Varitek, and Lowell. He is fourth in runs scored behind Ortiz, Manny and Youk. It seems that he is doing exactly what they paid him to do.

Agreed. An empty 300? It seems pretty full to me...walk off hits, and .300 is .300 anyway you spin it, as long as he's hitting the ball and getting on base, there isn't much more you could ask for from a guy like Loretta.

He's paid to move runners from first to third. He was brought here to hit doubles. He may have the 5th highest OBP on the team but the lineup pretty much sucks which doesn't say much. He's not that good of a ballplayer and the stats I pointed out show that. A .733 OPS is unacceptable in my view from him.

How is it full? Why because his average says .300. There are other stats to really judge how good a hitter is and BA is not one of them. 2 walk off hits. wow that is a big stat. I think you could ask alot more from him like more doubles. He was billed as a doubles guy and hasn't shown it. Its a joke the guy was voted an All-Star.

Being upset at a 2B who gives you league average OPS (league average for every position) is, well, Yankee fan-esque. This team is in a pennant race right now. You know Loretta will give you above average OBP, above average BA, a high contact rate, and average D up the middle. Pedroia, while likely better, hasn't sniffed the bigs yet, so you have no idea what he'd do. Don't fix it if it ain't broken.

With the exception of 2004, he has never been a big doubles hitter. He'll have the second or third highest number of doubles in his career by the end of the year. They got him because he puts the bat on the ball. He rarely strikes out. He's a good situational hitter who makes productive outs by hitting behind runners to move them to 2nd or 3rd with less than 2 outs. He gets on-base a lot. When you are in front of Ortiz and Manny, you don't need to supply power. You need to get on and mover runners up when you make an out. OBP is not the only method in determining the value of a player.

Your likely an advocate of resigning him too aren't you?

Ballgame :)

This had everything, cmon boys a nice streak and gain some ground

very encouraging 7 inning start by Wells

our offense finally brought out their agression

defense, defense, defense

My star of the game in the end has to go to this guy

Mike Lowell after scaring RSN with him being hit by a pitch to the helmet, produced.. more or less. RBI single that helped a 7 run 3rd inning, him diving into the stands for a great catch, and a steal of 3rd base

I wouldn't hate signing him for another year...I advocate bringing Pedroia up next year and seeing how he does in spring training. If he proves he is ready, I'd be all for it and have Loretta play off the bench. Is Loretta not good enough for you as a back up middle infielder?

Pedroia is more than ready to take over and Loretta at 5 million plus is a waste as a backup infielder. You can pay backups alot less than that.
