at 22 both smoltz and maddux were both amazing.. their rookie years were simply used to shape them up and get their pitches mlb ready. the same goes for lester.. but lets not think he can turn out like maddux or smoltz, both 1st ballot hall of famers.

Well, chances are the red sox won't lose any ground to the Yankees as the Yankees will have to use Ponson either in this inning or in the next and he is worse than Seanez. But, this means that the white sox will move into sole possession of the wild card.

What do we expect. Our best #5 starter in the last 2 months was DFA'd by the Royals. We've also been using the pitcher with the worst winning % in baseball history. And we are forced to use a 22 year old in the # 3 slot. It's like a third world rotation.

Since the All-Star break, there has been pretty much 3 guys who have carried this team, Ortiz, Schilling and Paps. People need to step up, especially the pitchers. Beckett and Lester need to stop sucking. I know they are young, but we NEED them right now more than ever this year. The lineup as a whole has to start getting clutch hits. All they do is rely on Papi to save them. The bullpen has been a friggen joke lately. I have no confidence in Seanez, Tavarez and Hansen. Delcarmen and Timlin have pitched well all season, but lately have sucked.

As bad as this team seems,it could've been worse. Today on WEEI they were talking about how the word isw that Theo was opposed to the Beckett deal. As inconsistent as he has been, where would we have been without Beckett's 13 wins and Lowell?
