I don't think I would call Beckett a bust. I think he's a good, young pitcher who is just finding his way.

Can someone answer this for me though: why doesn't Beckett throw a splitter? His stuff would be perfect for it given his velocity and good (when on target) curveball.

Beckett is not a bust. If he was 36, maybe, but he's 26, and to be quite honest, I'm not that disappointed this year. 11 wins isn't bad. Tonight hasn't been great, but one night doesn't make a career.

EDIT: Except for Buckner and Grady.

I was OK with Beckett when it was dominate, dominate, dominate, shelled, dominate. I can stomach a 4.75+ ERA when that is what's going on. Now it's 2-3 bombs, 4-5 runs, in 6-7 innings just about every time out. I don't like it.

I think ORS is looking at his season overall, not just tonight. Expectations were set high for this young hard thrower. They were expecting 11 wins by All-Star break. But his ERA is at 4.89, major league high 27 HRs allowed and has a very good chance of breaking the record of 50

Yeah he was great when he gave up 2 HR in one game to Ty Wiggington.

Can somebody do something with runners on this time? Please. No, pretty please with mother-f***ing sugar on top.

I was thinking the EXACT same thing. As far as I'm concerned he's a 2 pitch pitcher. A split would be perfect.
