Astros deal two minor-leaguers for HuffAssociated Press

HOUSTON -- Houston acquired outfielder Aubrey Huff from Tampa Bay on Wednesday. The Devil Rays agreed to pay the Astros more than $1.6 million to offset Huff's contract.

The Devil Rays get two minor leaguers -- right-handed pitcher Mitch Talbot and infielder Ben Zobrist.

Houston also optioned outfielder Jason Lane to Triple-A Round Rock and designated minor league infielder Joe McEwing for assignment.

Huff hit .283 with eight home runs, 15 doubles and 28 RBI in 63 games this year for the Devil Rays.

He spent three weeks on the disabled list with a strained left knee -- returning in early May.

But still' date=' wouldn't you want top dollar for a guy who a few teams are after. If you can push it, push it.[/quote']

Still, the trades since last season all involve something in common... good/decent pitching prospects. Couple of years from now they will be a force when the pitching shows up.

Rotoworld: The Devil Rays said Wednesday that they plan to move B.J. Upton to third base in Triple-A and call him up for the final two months of the season.

"We haven't put a specific timetable on this, with the idea being for him to move over and get comfortable at that position," said executive VP Andrew Friedman. "There's an obvious hole there after the [Aubrey] Huff trade. [it will happen] as soon as we feel he's comfortable. That could be two weeks, it could be longer. It's hard to say." Friedman went on to say that it wasn't necessarily a permanent move and that Upton still could end up at shortstop if Julio Lugo is traded or leaves as a free agent at the end of the year. Even though Upton hasn't been hitting well in Triple-A of late, today's news makes him worth picking up immediately in AL-only leagues. With his stolen-base potential, he could be quite an asset during August and September.

They need to traded Lugo because next year, unless the Rays make a amazing offer, he is out of Tampa. Upton was supposed to fill his shoes at SS.

I was wondering if this guy could play OF as they talked about how he was going to be traded during this weekend's series in Tampa.
