Craig's done a good job of keeping the ball down with good movement lately. I'd love to see a weak chopper to Cora.

BTW, I met Craig's ladyfriend before Monday's game in Tampa. Well, she said she was his ladyfriend. She's a senior at SJU, and is from Boston. I got down to Tampa early, so I decided to kill some time at Dan Marino's, a classy sports bar near the Trop. Anyway, the reason I'm telling you this is that I gleaned a little nugget of info from her. Apparently, Craig, like a lot of the players reads the posts at SoSH. Someone speculated that Theo was in Florida to scout Willis' start against the Sox and that Craig was used a bunch in that series so the Marlins could get a look at him. Hansen seems to think he will be traded in a package for Willis.

who was that someone that said theo was scouting willis?

easy flyout. but ya francona should keep a guy with 6 homers in the #5 slot.
No he should keep a clutch hitter in the 5th slot that has a high OBP, knows how to hit situationally and doesn't K much. It's very tough on pitchers to face Nixon after putting the two studs on base.

Im more concerned with the average, and seeing as Nixon is still over .320...

he has average yes but he offers hardly the protection someone like manny needs from the #5 hole.

Who do you propose to hit in the #5 hole, jsinger? Nobody on this team is really profiling at a typical #5 hitter. Well, maybe Lowell is, but I like having Nixon's .430 OBP up in front of Lowells extra base hits.

I don't know, it was speculation over at SoSH. He read it, and thinks there's something to it.

That's just unfortunate. He's really getting some good weak GBs, but that one had eyes. Loretta gets one on the first DP ball and we're hitting with a 4-run lead.

I like Hansen but I don't see how you can think the Sox need him more than the D-Train in "06.

Because I don't see how you can rely on bums like seanez and tavarez and timlin is 40 yrs old. He can't last forever. You need realiable arms down there who can get outs.

If you add a pitcher to the rotation that takes you deep into the 7th and 8th innings every fifth day ( replacing guys that have been giving us 4 innings) would make a big difference by taking a lot of strain off the pen. I don't think too many GM's would agree with you on this one.

Willis is a good pitcher but the price will likely be too much in my opinion thus I don't think the Marlins trade him anyways.

Too many? I don't think any would. Jsinger, you are in your own scary little world on this one.

I wouldn't trade him if I were the Marlins' GM. However, ORS said that Hansen was convinced that he will be traded for Willis. You say that you wouldn't make the swap because you value Hansen more than Willis, and in the next breath you argue that there is no chance of getting Willis. It seems like you argue out of both sides of your mouth. The discussion was whether D-Train would be a good acquisition for Hansen. Whether it can be done was irrelevant to the discussion. I also don't think the Marlins should move him, but apparently Hansen thinks it will happen. Whether it does or doesn't happen is irrelevant because the discussion is admittedly hypothetical.

FWIW, I don't think the deal will just be for Hansen. And, I don't think he thinks it will either. It would have to be a package. That said, I'd be interested to know what it takes to get the job done, because given the Sox 5th starter problems, it might be worth breaking a few eggs to make that omelette.

It would definitely take a package, but if Hansen is the centerpiece, I say go for it.
