I'll take 12-4 for the Pats and a playoff berth, Dolphins get a wild card

Pittsburgh from the north

San Diego and Denver come out of the West

Indianapolis

If the Pats don't go, I'm taking Denver for the Super Bowl rep from the AFC

It's called an upset. It's also the Washington f***ing Redskins. You do realize their secondary is quite possibly the best in the NFL (assuming Sean Taylor stays out of trouble), they added Antwaan Randle El AND Brandon Lloyd to go with Santana Moss, and oh yeah, that RB named Clinton Portis. The only question mark is Mark Brunell. If his age lets him stay one more year, this Redskin team could beat anybody.

The Cowboys will make a trip to the superbowl this year. I don't care how much of a distraction TO is, Bledsoe and Parcells will keep him in check, and he will help the get to the superbowl.QUOTE]

Very humorous indeed

I'm a Panthers fan so maybe this will be alittle bit homer, but who cares. To say that the Panthers are going to be shot down in the first round is crazy plan and simple. This team has everything. The line is very underrated as is Jake Delhomme. With Foster getting help from Williams the running will be very good. Steve Smith is the best Wideout in the game and Keyshawn will help take pressure off. The Defense is purhaps the best in the game. Pepper is the best DE and Rucker isn't too bad either. Jenkins god forbid he's gets hurt is one of the best DTs. Dan Morgan is a very underrated MLB and Thomas Davis will be a stud OLB. The secondary is very very good. Ken Lucas had a hell of a year and Gamble is young and already great. The only sopt on this team that has question marks is the TE.

Also John Fox isn't to shabby either. He's knows how to coach and will be prepared for anyone this season.

Finally about the whole Cowboys thing, how is Parcells going to keep Bledsoe off his back?

Freeny plays on the fast track indoors, which definitly helps his sacks number. Seymore is the focal point of the pats D, and faces double teams on every down.

You can say all you want about whether they play indoors or outdoors, the numbers don't lie. So Freeney and Peppers don't face double teams?

Hey, don't get me wrong, I love the Panthers. They've always been my NFC team. I have a powder blue Peppers jersey on me right now as I type. I love the team.

I said predictions. You gotta have upsets in there somewhere. I know Keyshawn's a threat, but after watching what the Seahawks did to Smith last season, and Delhomme still not getting any other open wideouts, it's scary to think about what the Redskins D could do.

And besides, that's only if they meet in the first round by chance. I don't know when they meet, but if they do meet, my money's on the Redskins.

And I just meant that Bledsoe and Parcells, together, will keep TO in check and keep his antics to a minimum.

Numbers for linemen mean jack. I am a lineman, so I can explain to you why. Sacks wasn't even a statistical category until like 10-15 years ago if I'm correct. The line is the most commonly misunderstood aspect of football. As long as you have your man in position, and you control the gaps (when on defense), you are a successful lineman. If you beat the other lineman to the gap that you're assigned to, and you control your area, even if the play doesn't go to you, you still did a hell of a job. Watch Seymour control his area next time you're watching. No one does it better. He plugs the holes so the backs can't get through. That's why they're forced outside, and most commonly tackled for losses. Does Seymour get any credit for that? No. It's the most underappreciated and unrecognized thing, yet it's the most crucial when you're a lineman. You make plays without actually being a part of the tackle. I take Seymour over Freeney everyday. Peppers is just ridiculous. Best lineman in the NFL, IMO. I still watch when he chased down Vick and I'm amazed. Freeney's only useful for pass rush. That spin move is the worst thing a lineman can do. I don't understand why he's so successful with it, but when he is it works. The other half of the time, when it isn't, he'll find himself on his ass. When he spins he takes his concentration and bearings away from where the ball is.

When analyzing and comparing lineman, you honestly can't use numbers. Freeney might be getting sacks because his other fellow lineman created that opportunity for him. It's why football is the best example of a team game. It takes all 11 men on the field to do their jobs, or you're screwed. Plain and simple.

To see that Peps is the best: That game against the Falcons a couple years ago, when he reached back and caught the fumble one handed while getting pushed by a linemna then he burns everyone and takes 80 yards to the house. Just plain ridiculous.
Posted

Oh yes, that ONE play that was probably 90% luck that he caught it in the first play shows his true skill. Granted, it was ridiculous, but him chasing down Michael Vick was more impressive.

No, he's a defensive lineman. You can prove he's the best by watching tapes of his games, looking at his work ethic, his speed, his strength, and his overall ability at the position.

I understand your reasoning but it is flawed. The reason why Seattle was able to sit back on the pass is because we had no running game. The last against the Bears is when Foster broke his ankle and Steven Davis was already out. Nick F'N Goings started that game. Without that our offense suffered and couldn't give the defense a break, till the point of when trying was just too hard. This year is different new running and passing game, improved defense will land us our first championship.

I think you are also forgetting Richard Seymore, who is probally the best D-line man in the NFL, so I stick by my prediction 12-4.

I should have said DT.

Anyway, on the Panthers. The NFC South is going to be a tough division, but Carolina is the favorite. Though, I somehow doubt that you can say with any certaintly that they will win a championship in the middle of July.

Posted
Well when you are the most complete team in the league, you have high hopes for the season. Also the NFC South isn't what people think it is. Falcons aren't that good. The Bucs are average and NO sucks. I don't care if they have Reggie Bush or not, he doesn't have the line he did at USC.
Posted
Reggie Bush didn't need a line anyway, did you see what he did? Sure, he wasn't swamped, but he made things happen by himself. Besides, they don't have that stiff Brooks in there anymore. They have a reformed Drew Brees throwing to Joe Horn, and a nice 1-2 punch with Bush and McAllister. They're better than last year.

Bress is coming off major shoulder surgery. I wouldn't be so sure of it myself. Also who else do they got. Stallworth has be underachieving and they lost the best center in the game. (Bentley?)

The Saints get to play 8 home games this year. That should help them.

Look, no one is saying the Saints are going to make the playoffs, but they aren't a team you can just check off for two wins.

Hey National Football League,

You have better be prepared for the HOUSTON TEXANS! Weeeeeeew! This is the year of David Carr proving himself, the defense getting back on track and some more wins.

P.S. See you in Week 15, Patriots.

This is really David Carr's season to prove himself. The O-line is improved, but a good amount of the hits Carr took last year were his own fault. Hopefully he has figured out that it is preferred to throw the ball away than to take the sack.

The panthers will win it all, they have the D and the offense. Now that they acquired Keyshawn, defenses will be kept honest and Steve Smith will be an even bigger force. They also have a healthy Deshaun Foster and an NFL ready back waiting in the wings in case of injury in Deangelo Williams who is capable of being a legitimate complete back. Delhomme has a lot of experience in the playoffs and Peppers will lead the defense to being one of the best in the league again. They were a piece or two away from going deep in a couple of the past few years and it looks like if they stay healthy, they will be almost impossible to beat come January/February.
Posted
Keyshawn is merely an average NFL receiver. He doesn't require a double-team anymore. Steve Smith should still continue to see double and triple teams as the season progresses.
Posted
Fa real Crespo, I was thinking about that the other day. He really isnt what he used to be, and I think that everyone talking Smith/Keyshawn up was just being real optimistic, and I think thats best case scenario.
Posted
Keyshawn still has enough left in the tank to be a good possesion receiver and command some respect from defenses, in my opinion, which should open up the field a little more for Smith.
Posted
Keyshawn is another Muhammed. He is a tall receiver like Muhammed was. Having now Kayshawn, and a rising athlete like Colbert, should really open up the field for Smith. Having a recieving core like that, it should also open up the running game for foster, Goings, and whoever else carries the ball. Expect the Panthers to be an explosive team this year. They should make the playoffs easy, if there are no key injuries, b/c the NFC south seems really weak this year, but then again, Vick may pull something outta his ass. GO PANTHERS!!

You're right. Keyshawn is another Muhammed, but it depends what Muhammed you're looking for. 2003 Muhammed? No, Keyshawn is far removed from those years, but he'll probably get you 800 yards. Not bad, but not the impact everyone's looking for. Colbert is what he is. He's at best, a good three receiver. He doesn't have the explosiveness or strength to be an impact WR. Everyone seems to overrate him, because he was a Trojan.

DeAngelo Williams will be the starting RB for the Panthers this year. I don't know when, but he's a better RB then Foster. Plus, he's also a lot more durable then Foster, who seems to be a ticking time bomb.

Posted
im not judging Colbert b/c of what he did in USC. That year, that Steve Smith was injuired. Now muhammed stepped up big time that year, and was a beast, and lead the NFL in some categories, but, Colbert did a great job playing that 2nd spot, and that's what i base my opinion off of.

Uh, sorry, the dolphins are taking the division. They won games with Gus Ferrote. Let that sink in for a moment.

Now imagine Daunte Culpepper under center with Ronnie Brown and Chris Chambers and no distractions. 12-4 season at worst.

I think the Dolphins will have to wait till next year to take that division.

Pats aren't going to be that good. Branch will be in the doghouse, and they have no running game and no clutch kicker to bail them out. Dillon can't even see the hill he's so far over it.

I dunno about all that, but the Pats definatly aren't the same team. That being said I don't know that Dante is going to be the same ... especially right out of the gate. That's why I think they'll have to wait for next year to get a full healthy season out of Dante.
