The question now as SFIT asked before.....Can Rivera pitch today?

Well, he is warming. And although I bash him what seems like quite a bit, this one is over now. Bring out the brooms.

Smith when he was up here pitched well. Certainly better then Beam. Cox is currently working on a 28 inning scoreless streak in AA. (Or something like that)

Cox was drafted on stature only. The fact that he was the closer for Texas University convinced some people that he was worthy of a high round pick. His stuff doesn't exactly blow you away. He's about 91-92 with a good slider. He occasionally mixes in a changeup, which is used to keep batters off-balance. I think he'll be a serviceable major league pitcher, but he won't be dominant.

(BTW, this game actually made me laugh. Like a cheasy predictable ending at a crappy PG movie)

I agree, I certainly dont think he will be Hansen HOWEVER I do see him as a Jeff Nelson type pitcher. I think Cox could be better then guys like Beam/Chacon right now.

That lead didn't last long. Otsuka blows the save. Who was that idiot that got doubled off first in the 8th. What was he thinking? Where was he going? His run didn't mean anything. There were two guys in front of him to score insurance runs. That was a little league mistake. You always tell the runner to make sure the line drive goes through.

That's an interesting comparison. Nelson, however, had a dominant slider (probably 75 out of 80), and an mid 90's fastball. Cox, could be that good, but I don't think it's likely. (I'd say a 3.75 to 4.25 ERA guy)

Jeff Nelson lite, maybe?

Its intresting cause I was reading some reports and when he reported to camp last year he was throwing only 88 MPH. I assumed it was because of the CWS and overwork. This year his velocity is up to 93 and that sinker has been very effective. I think he will be solid however I think the Yankees do have a very good reliever prospect coming soon and his name is Mark Melancon. They drafted him in the 8th round (I think). He slipped that far because of some arm injury he had and because he fell that far some thought he would try and increase his stock by going back to college. But it sounds like the Yankees are going to sign him above his slot price. This guy has a Mid 90's fastball with a big power curve and slider.

Jerry Hairston. The same bumb who f***ed up in the outfield like 3 times in the first game of the series.

I dont know if anybody caught the Columbus Clippers/Durham Bulls game on YES last night, but it was extremely exciting, and it was good to see guys like Terrence Long (although there was that one at bat in the 9th I believe where he took two beautiful pitches to put him in an 0-2 count in which he later struck out), Carlos Pena, and Mitch Jones come up with hits when needed. The 10 inning thriller had be on the edge of my seat (actually I was sitting on my bedroom floor leaning up against my bed) the entire time. I hope for similar results tonight with the parent clubs.

I missed that. I took your advice and I am working on getting over my obsession with the yankees. My first step was to stop watching Columbus Clipper games, which was easy since I never did watch them.

I was watching FSN's round up of baseball highlights. Now I shouldnt be surprised, but Im just going to ask why did Bernie Williams get a curtain call after a solo HR late in the game made it 6-0?

Its really pathetic the amount of curtain calls they give.

Damn.... Hello 1 1/2 game lead

http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/boxscore?gid=260729110&page=boxscore&refresh=0

The D-Rays are currently leading 18-5 at Yankee Stadium. RJ was roughed up in 3.1 innings giving up 9 Runs (6 ER) off of 6 hits

Still the D-Rays are dealt a big blow as Ty Wigginton has broken his left hand, he was their biggest run producer this season. He was hit by a Shawn Chacon pitch who by the way now has a 7.00 ERA. Maybe a month or 6 weeks he will be out.

Probably sooner than 4-6 weeks. I can see him being the odd-man out when Dotel comes off the DL, rather than Beam.
