cant argue with that logic sir

my only worry is that boy wonder hasnt had a full season of this type of pressure both mentally and physically

mentally he seems sharp as a razor

physically hes still throwing very well but we got another 90days of bball left which can be an eternity on a young arm

last year he was lites out down the stretch so all indications are we shouldnt worry

however

as redsox fans this is what we do

if we're not badmouthing the wives and children of yankee players or calling for jihad on yawkee way then we're worrying about the health of our players

I'd be more concerned with a 36 year old's arm wearing out before a 26 year old's.

I'm not in the mood to argue about the best closer ever so for now I'll just agree with your statement. Best closer ever doesn't mean jack s*** when Rivera takes the mound this season ... best closer in the game does. I dont care about last season, or next season ... I care about this season, and we have THE BEST closer this season, and Rivera is not on the same level ... just look at the numbers. Rivera is still a great closer but he is not as dominating as Paps is. So I guess we agree ... I'll take Paps every day.

(1) when it comes to best closer EVER there probably IS NO argument, so it makes sense not to go there.

(2) I care about this season too....and while I'm totally impressed with what Papelbon has done, I want to see what he does in August and September and, more importantly, October. I think I know what the Yanks would get out of Rivera in the playoffs...I can't say the same for Paps until I see it.

Well, Kreskin is a Yankee fan, so it's no wonder they boo'd him weeks before those 2 bad games.

Did they just say Damon's back locked up on him? First year of 4 and he's been hobbled for various reasons. Despite Coco's little cold stretch, I still don't think giving JD long-money was a good idea.

I fully believe that Melky Cabrera gets more bases by people f***ing up than anyone in baseball.

Mark Teixeira says....

"Guess what I found out about Randy Johnson's pitches. They're ... FAT!"

Millwood really dicked the dog there. He had Jeter about 6" futher off the plate after dusting him, then he hangs one on the inner half. He should have pumped a FB away. Where Jeter was set up, there's no way he covers the outer half.

Or it could just be my aggrevation from having to deal with you and your Yankee hate-fest. Grow up and go find a team to root for. I swear it's pathetic how much attention you pay to the Yankees and how much you criticize them when you have your own team to worry about. The Red Sox pitching staff is worse off than the Yankees (though you wouldnt know it based on today, but thats baseball) and it will catch up to them. Focus on that.
You were still steamed at 3:45 a.m.? Wow! Losses really stick with you.

It would be nice if Texas stopped kicking the ball around the field. As bad as the Yankees have been playing lately, their opponents have been quite generous with the extra outs and bases.

EDIT: Another base for Milk-Dud on a s***** throw, and it was a run to boot.

DeRosa looked a little like A-Rod on that throw home

Oh, stop. That's not true at all...

...A-Rod's throw would have gone to the backstop.

thats another amazing thing about rivera

his health

i dont recall him ever being dl'd

He started 2002 on the DL. SAteve Karsay was the closer for a while until Rivera got better. I believe there was another time too, but I cant specifically recall.

Is it that difficult to just give the kid some credit?

Paps has been the BEST closer this season, without a doubt. But does that discount Rivera's abilities, does it? And like rican said, as far as i'm concerned, the one thing I care most about is the postseason. We have a pretty good idea of how Rivera would do, but the same can't be said for Jonathon.
