If I recall correctly, he didn't ask out of Texas. They wanted to get out from under his huge contract, and he was agreeable to a move. Perhaps he even approached them, but I don't think he formally made the request. If he did, then I think he loses the right to request a trade (I think you only get one such request).

I thought he had requested it due to the losing, and they just so happen to be open to the idea of moving his contract. I remember him them taking back his trade requests (at least publicly) and being named team captain for about 6 days.

I may be wrong, I dont recall for sure.

...and as for him asking out of his contract, I doubt he would do that. He has to much to prove and he wants to do so very badly. I think he's in it for the long haul. When asked yesterday by reporters if he would accept a trade to Philly (For Abreau, Burrell, Tom Gordon, and David Bell) he said that he would veto it. Not that that means anything, just mentioning it.

I guess I'm not as anti-Alex at this point as many other Yankee fans (I also didn't see the games in which he had his 4 errors). We're not getting rid of this guy, there is no way he would tarnish his legacy like that. This guy wants to be the best baseball player ever and if he gets dealt, he'll be the guy that couldn't handle the pressure in NY. Even when he approaches Aaron's record, he'll have it hang over his head that Jeter excelled in NY and he was inadequate. There is no way he'll let that happen.

He's just gotta get his s*** together and start playing better. That won't happen until he relaxes.

I'd love to have an honest conversation with the guy, just once. I'd want to find out why he adds all that extra pressure to himself, and explain to him why he shouldn't. All you have to do is hit, and it all goes away. I haven't lost confidence in Rodriguez yet, although Joe Torre and I may be the only ones. He didn't forget how to play, he's just having a really rough stretch.

I went to the Melky walkoff game, and the fans gave A-Rod a standing ovation when he came up to pinch hit. I saw a guy wearing a t-shirt that said stop booing A-Rod. If he was truly villified that wouldn't happen. The fans want to see him succeed, and when he does they'll be able to support him again. It's tough to applaud somebody who is failing. If the Yankees plan on playing in October, we're going to need him.

I dont know if its the turf but Jeter and A-Rod look like they are playing with cement cleats. A-Rod should have had the lead off double and if Jeter had any range the inning would be over. Put the Red Sox left side of the INF out there and its the Top of the 2nd.

E5 - throwing. He's going to need every bit of the good the HR did in the minds of Yankee fans.

2-2 into the bottom of the 5th. Lilly is at 87 pitches. It will be interesting to see what Gibbons does with his BP. Ryan and Speier could use another day of rest, but they might have a chance to win the series.

0-3, 3 K's for 'the DH'. I can't wait to see the reaction from the fans on his return to the Stadium.

He needs his head fixed. Who knows how long that could take. For some, there is no fix. For others, they are fine by the end of the week. It's pretty obvious he's pressing really hard, but without any confidence. Given the way he tries to please everyone in the media, he strikes me as a bit of an obsessive, brooding type of guy. If it lasts, it won't matter how quickly Matsui finds his swing.

I am so glad the Yankees are giving Sidney a chance.

BTW: The Yankee pitchers have lucked out that they are facing a team with no Rios and no Hillenbrand.

Edit: What is Bubba waiting for on that ball hit by Overbay? It was up there for a long time.

Al Leiter always seems to be making excuses for Yankee players. In the case of Ponson, there are no excuses. He's fat and he sucks.

Edit: and he's gone after 2 1/3 innings. Go hit the buffet, Sidney.

This could be a 5 hour game with 30 runs scored.

Edit: The YES announcers are wondering whether Ponson's visa problems had any effect on his performance. They really reach for excuses.

I cant believe Torre called on Kris Wilson in a 1 run game. I understand its early but hes used Ron Villon early in ball games and chances are he will be used in this ball game. He could have also gone to Shawn Chacon. Anyone but Kris Wilson.

BTW If Bubba Crosy is still on this team after todays game then the Yankee front office is really inept.

I'm enjoying this immensely.

Hinske picked a good spot to not suck in.

edit - Same can be said for Reed Johnson. 10-3 Jays.

It was only this offseason when some Yankees fans and managment, were fine sticking Bubba out in Center on a everyday basis
