Why not? Paps made a bad pitch, but he shouldn't even be anywhere near this game. Not with a 6 run lead in the 7th. If he does his job and holds the line, then Paps isn't anywhere near this game, 48 hours after throwing 2.1 innings.

I see what you're saying but your logic is sitll a bit flawed. He gave up a run. That RUN, whether he should be in the game or not, is still a RUN. And he has blown the save.

I blame alot on Francona for sending wake back out there when he was nearing 100 pitches, laboring all day, and had just waited awhile when the sox sent 12 men to the plate the previous inning.

I blame Paps for making a bad pitch to Utley. However, he throws it 96 when healthy and it was 92. So don't tell me fatigue didn't play some part in this.

 

Seanez should have been able to limit some of the damage, Francona needed to do a better job of managing his pen.

Just a note and I’m not sure it means anything, but both of Paps’ blown saves have come with Mirabelli catching.

Burrell can't touch Paps, I was at the game on Saturday and he didn't even come close to to hitting the kid.

 

Papelbon is amazing, but I think we seem to forget that the kid isn't God. Lets see if the big hitters can send Philly home this inning and pick up Paps another win.
