I debated whether or not to put Damon's numbers up, but decided against it.

The point of the thread was to praise Gonzo and show that our number 9 hitter could soon pass our main main Coco.

why not put up Damon's numbers next to Youk's then? and don't forget the salaries

True but is Damon coming off of a 42 day DL stint from injuring his wrist, a major component for major league hitters?

No, he's just playing with broken bones in his foot (a major component for quick guys and OF.)

Because I've seen plenty of "Coco's Better" shirts, and not so many that say "Kevin's Better."

go ahead and pick and choose which Yankees you want to compare to which Sox then. And while you're at it, might as well brag about how much better A-Rod is than J.T. Snow.

Johnny Damon: .291 AVG; .359 OBP; .470 SLG; $13,000,000

Kevin Youkilis: .318 AVG; .432 OBP; .519 SLG; $254, 600

...and while we are at it

Mariano Rivera: 4-4; 13 SV; 2.29 ERA; 15 SVO; 35.1 IP; 30 H; 9 ER; 2 HBP, 6 BB; 24 SO; $10,500,000; 36 Years Old

Jonathan Papelbon: 1-1; 23 SV; 0.25 ERA; 24 SVO; 35.2 IP; 19 H; 1 ER; 1 HBP; 4 BB, 35 SO; $335,400; 24 Years Old

i read somewhere today that Papelbons ERA cant get any lower for the next couple of innings, even if they are scoreless. Cant even compare him to Rivera this year.

Comparison of position. Over the course of the next few years, I'd rather have Coco patrolling the outfield while I watch him reach his prime than watch Damon decline in the last 2 seasons of his contract. If you're going to put up actual numbers, compare with him with a leadoff hitter like you should. In this case, it would be Kevin Youkilis.

It will get lower, you just won't be able to tell because of the x.xx format of keeping ERA's. It will go from 0.28314 to 0.28307 (or something like that).

Amazing.

Coco has literally played in 25 games this season. You need to give him some time to get back in the flow of things, his average will go up.

Coco injured his wrist? That's news to me.

I could have sworn he sprained his finger

THANK YOU!! It seems like people don't realize that average stats are taken over time... batting average judges how well he has hit up to a certain point and Crisp has not played nearly as many games as gonzo or damon so comparing them now is useless. It makes no sense. Does everyone remember Gonzo through 25 games? It was pathetic, so give Crisp time.

I believe it was a nondisplaced fracture of his knuckle.

Gonzo currently batting .251

Crisp currently batting .255

YIKES!!!

more the reason to put crisp 1st in the batter order right?

typical dirt dog, say one thing, do another.
