Scouting Report: Very athletic lefty. 2-seam and 4-seam fastballs sit in the low 90's, top out in the mid-90s, and have good movement. Lester also utilizes an above-average change-up, an 11-to-5 curveball which sits in the low 70s, and in 2005 worked on developing a cutter. Easy delivery motion with good explosion, similar to Andy Pettitte. Power strikeout pitcher, uses his fastball and occasionally his curve as his out pitch. While Lester typically has top notch control, occasionally he will have games where his control of certain pitchers is off. Very hard worker, prepares will for each game. Has also been compared to Mark Mulder. Great pickoff move.

WTF Why am I not getting this game on Direct TV?

 

Friggin MLB extra innings is showing me an LSU game from 1992 on the extra innings redsox game :rant:

 

I just got off the phone with Directv and they said their was a programming error that they were unaware of (i was the first person to call about it ) They said they will work on it and will try to have it resolved by the end of the redsox game! :wtf:

Papi got totally screwed on that strike call, and so far Lester has been squeezed tightly on two nice curveballs.

I have a feeling Lester is going to step it up sometime soon. Perhaps not tonight, but I don't think he has displayed on the big level what the Sox see in him. He wasn't very impressive in Spring Training or his last start. Those two k's last inning looked very impressive.

 

Meanwhile, MY extra-innings is working and I'm watching another very impressive lefty in Liriano. I hope Lester could be that good.
