Dont get me wrong, I am a huge Sox fan.....but does anyone else want to see an allstar team with ALL Redsox and Yankees starting on the field with the exception of Vlad? I mean come on, this is supposed to be a showcase of all the leagues best talent, with those players putting up the best numbers in their positions.

 

Arod should not be starting at 3B,

Cano should not be starting at 2B,

Ortiz should not be starting at 1B,

Tek should not be starting at C,

and Damon should not be starting at CF.

Anyways, in that thread I commented that the MLB All-Star game voting has officially become as much of a joke as the NBA's All-Star voting and I stand by that.

This is why fans should not vote in players. With home field advantage at stake, i dont want my allstar team with players exclusively from Boston and NY. Its a populartity contest.

That's the purpose of his presence. I would actually love to give this guy an award, something like "Best Impersonator" or something. He actually is doing quite well. TalkSox has it's own commentating going on. I like it.

Shouldnt Ortiz's power numbers this year say All-Star? The All-Star game voting by the fans is not based on defense, its all about who can put up the better power numbers. Maybe 17 HRs/51 RBIs through the first 2 months is good.

 

Its a National League ballpark so of course guys like Ortiz & Thome are going to be put in 1st base ballot.

Agree with C...2B is a toss up, Grudzelniak is having a nice year, so are a coiuple of other 2B, Jetes has the average up there but Tejada is the man.

 

While Gonzo doesn't belong I sure hope a gold glove goes his way this year...he's the best fielding AL SS I have seen in years...smooth, fundamental yet also spectacular.

If you are going to put a DH at 1B, then I think Thome deserves the spot. I voted for Giambi because he plays more games in the field than he DH's.
